The Job:  

In this newly developed role, the Director of Brand Management – Proto will be a key contributor on the Tools & Outdoors Brand and Product leadership teams. Working in close proximity with product & commercial teams, with an entrepreneurial mindset, the primary objective for this leader is to support the achievement of organizational brand value growth goals through the development & activation of impactful go-to-market strategy. Through the leadership of a team of innovative marketing professionals and by leveraging insightful marketing best practices, this role will drive demand growth within our Proto brand portfolio.

The role requires flexibility and willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges as well as the ability to “roll up the sleeves” and be hands-on.  You’ll get to:

  • Lead the development of the global Proto brand strategy.
  • Drive brand positioning by partnering with Product, Sales, Channel Marketing, and cross-functional leadership to maintain brand identity, brand standards, and more, driving brand equity and commercial resource allocations.
  • Oversee development and execution of global marketing campaigns for key product launches and significant brand initiatives, with strong support from regional marketing teams.
  • Remain apprised of industry, customer, and competitor insights + trends to support strategy.
  • Lead within a matrix organization, have critical influence over coordinated planning, and collaborate closely with regional commercial and channel marketing teams.
  • Translate Global objectives into strategic omnichannel programs to enhance customer acquisition and retention to achieve set KPIs.
  • Align with regional and global marketing teams on key initiatives, ensuring visibility to all work and collaborating with other teams to reduce duplication of work.
  • Oversee the development and execution of global brand equity campaigns
  • Ensure marketing initiatives are integrated into the overall business plan by collaborating with stakeholders including product development, commercial, industrial design, Packaging, and regional marketing teams.
  • Evaluate market conditions to understand the competitive landscape and identify trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Recommend product changes and white space areas from perf./analysis.

  • 8+ years of experience leading and executing brand marketing strategies (B2C)
  • 5+ years of experience leading and executing global marketing campaigns
  • Must possess a deep understanding of the end-to-end customer journey
  • Delivering innovations that meet and exceed target end-user needs
  • Broad understanding of marketing strategies, customer development, supply chain implications, and financial literacy.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex issues and provide strategic counsel across a matrixed organization
  • Skilled in development & activation of impactful and collaborative partnerships
  • Must possess ability to develop effective multi-channel marketing strategy spanning Major Retail, Independent Retail, Dealer, eCommerce, & more.
  • Ability to effectively “story-tell” key influencers and decision-makers at all levels
  • Well-versed in best-in-class digital & brand marketing technologies, processes, and trends.
  • Excellent communicator with demonstrated ability to build relationships, establish rapport, drive consensus, & drive adoption with internal/external customer groups and all levels
  • Exceptional project & change management skills, leading cross-functional teams to execute
  • Ability to effectively continuously prioritize (& re-prioritize) work and create clarity of priorities to team

The base pay range for this position in Maryland is $110,500- $221,000 per year. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
