Job Title:              Electrical Commissioning Engineer
Location:              Plymouth, Devon

The role
As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be on the front lines delivering the UK’s strategic deterrent and you will be responsible for the verification, validation and commissioning of submarine propulsion systems ranging from installation checks to sea trials.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll deliver the systematic testing process to ensure the platforms propulsion and power distribution systems perform in accordance with design intent and operates as required by the end user.   

 

  • Ensuring the safe operation of all plant and processes under their control and to comply with the Nuclear Site Licence, MOD Authorisation Condition (LC/AC) and Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Researching and compiling test documentation In accordance with the Test Form Index, ensuring that the requirements of the Work Specification and the Commissioning Summary report are understood and included, paying due regard to the relevant corporate documentation.
  • Inspecting, testing, calibrating and commissioning of systems and equipment in accordance with Commissioning Group and corporate documentation, carrying out fault finding, diagnosis and proposing corrective solutions where required.
  • Identifying and recording any defects/deficiencies ensuring that all emergent work is correctly recognised.
  • Maintaining a close working relationship with Project/Production, Ships Staff and other Commissioning Group sections, to ensure that systems/equipment being handed over for commissioning meet the required standard.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

 

Essential experience of the Electrical Commissioning Engineer

  • Experience of commissioning, operations and maintaining electrical systems - Desirable.
  • Ability to work safely with high energy systems.
  • Ability to work to a consistently high standard within a demanding, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong planning, organisation, management, and communication skills.
  • Able to interpret relevant system drawings and associated documentation.

 

Qualifications for the Electrical Commissioning Engineer

  • Completed a recognised Electrical apprenticeship
  • ONC or equivalent in an Electrical engineering discipline
