About the role

Intact’s Data Governance office is looking for an IT Business Analyst Specialist – Data Governance!

You must have a good understanding of data governance principles, such as data quality, data compliance, data accessibility and data governance accountabilities. We are looking for an effective communicator to work closely with the business units, Legal and Compliance as well as the architecture, IT and data analytics teams, in order to enable, implement and monitor data governance standards and best practices.

What you’ll do:

  • Define, communicate and implement data governance processes in collaboration with other stakeholder groups.

  • Define, document and communicate data governance standards, guidelines and training material related to subjects associated with data quality, data retention, data classification, compliance, accessibility and accountabilities.

  • Support and advise projects or business stakeholders on data governance subjects, including data retention compliance.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on all subjects associated with data governance.

  • Onboard and support data governance owners, leaders and stewards into their role.

  • Participate in building business glossary, metadata management, data catalog.

What you need:

  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in data governance or minimum ten (10) years experience with data related domains, such as information security governance, or data architecture.

  • Good understanding of privacy laws and regulations in Quebec and Canada.

  • Good understanding of data management systems and platforms, used for data science or AI.

  • Solid communication skills and capacity to explain complex concepts.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data governance issues and suggest effective solutions.

  • Initiative, resourcefulness, autonomy and a good sense of responsibility.

  • Good understanding and experience with data governance tools such as business glossary, data catalogs, data dictionaries, metadata management systems.

  • Insurance or Financial Services industry experience, an asset.

  • Certified Data Management Professional from Dama International, an asset.

  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country. 

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
