Job description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Employment Labor Attorney to advocate for employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators. This role involves legal representation, case management, and mentoring a legal assistant. You'll collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, colleagues, and vendors, while staying updated on evolving employment laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in employment and labor disputes.
  • Draft legal documents and client correspondence.
  • Make court appearances and manage legal calendars.
  • Take and cross-examine depositions, particularly with medical professionals.
  • Negotiate settlements and oversee proactive case management.
  • Mentor and manage a legal assistant.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Attend marketing and networking events with both potential and existing clients.
  • Maintain accurate records, enter billable hours into our tracking software.
  • Lead training seminars on employment law updates for clients.
  • Ensure thorough understanding of current employment statutes and laws.
  • Handle various tasks and projects as needed to support the legal team.
Skills and Qualifications
  • JD (Juris Doctor) and active California Bar license.
  • At least 15 years of experience in employment law.
  • Specific experience in defending school districts is essential.
  • Strong understanding of California employment statutes and legal procedures.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor junior staff, particularly legal assistants.
