Position Type:    Full Time
Salary Range:    $146,700.00 - $154,500.00 Salary/year
Travel Percentage:    None
Job Shift:    Day

Prism Health and Cascade AIDS Project are excited to announce that we are hiring skilled and compassionate Physician Assistants/Associates (PAs). PAs provide primary medical care to LGBTQ+ and other patients, including gender affirming care and HIV/AIDS care. PAs report to the Medical Director. We have several openings.

This is a full time role working in our Portland clinic on SE Belmont Ave or N. Morris St, adjacent to Legacy Emmanuel Hospital. Clinic and work hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. A full time schedule includes 32 hours of direct patient care and 8 hours of admin time each week. Most practitioners work 4 days per week in the clinic, taking their admin time as a work from home day.

Starting pay is $146,700 to $154,500/year, which is equivalent to $70.52 to $74.28/hour.

Who You Are

  • You have current licensure as a Physician Assistant/Associate with prescriptive authority.
  • You have at least three years of experience providing primary care and you prefer working in a clinic.
  • You have experience working with LGBTQ+ people.
  • You have experience working with patients of all ages and you enjoy working with pediatric to geriatric patients.
  • You have lived experience or work experience with historically underserved people, including ethnic, racial, economic and sexually diverse populations.
  • You consider yourself a lifelong learner when it comes to inclusion and cultural competencies. You take it upon yourself to read, learn and practice improving your cultural agility. You truly enjoy working with those who don’t share your culture and background.
  • Ideally, you have experience with developing clinic policies and practices. When a policy or practice isn’t working, you are the person on your team who ensures that it is updated.
  • You are committed to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion at work. You already understand that this is an essential aspect of your clinical practice.
  • You are self aware and a good listener. You are an expert at centering others, and not just in the treatment room.
  • You're a pro with electronic medical records (EMR) and they don't get in your way. Prism uses Epic.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide compassionate and culturally specific primary care to Prism patients, the majority of whom are LGBTQ+. Unlike other settings, Prism Health appointments are typically 45 minutes long, allowing providers to truly connect with patients.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including physical exam, medical assessment, medication reconciliation, lab surveillance including HIV/STI testing and social needs assessment.
  • Provide gender affirming care including prescribing hormone therapy.
  • Provide patient education (including disease management, health coaching, preventative care and medication instructions) in a compelling and compassionate manner that maximizes compliance.
  • Work as a medical team with other PAs, FNPs, RNs, CMAs and Phlebotomists. At Prism Health, we work as a team and you aren’t on your own.
  • Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled substances.
  • Become a member of the broader LGBTQ+ and HIV medical community in Portland with the aim of enhancing your practice and increasing patient access to services outside Prism.
  • Contribute to an inclusive work environment by using trauma informed principles in your interactions with patients and coworkers.

At Cascade AIDS Project, we believe in unlocking potential. If you believe you may have the skills to do a job, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every qualification. Additionally, we encourage applications from Black, Indigenous and other People of Color, those with different abilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, those living with HIV, veterans, women and others who have been historically marginalized. We value your lived experience as well as your work experience.
