About The Position:

The Virtual Access Lead Instructor position is a paid, part-time leadership position for current undergraduate college students (preferred) and graduate college students (preferred graduate candidates will have experience leading SAT Prep courses at LGR). Reporting to a Program Manager and working closely with our SAT provider, The Lead Access Instructors are responsible for effectively teaching SAT prep lessons virtually, helping students understand concepts, test-taking strategies and completing assigned administrative duties. All meetings and classes are held virtually. Full training, curriculum, and supervision provided.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Instructor Responsibilities  (70%)

  • Ensure a meaningful and productive program experience for students
  • Prepare for and deliver engaging Math and/or Reading/Writing SAT test-prep instruction virtually to groups of high school students using an established SAT curriculum
  • Assign, monitor and encourage homework completion
  • Respond to student homework questions via our student learning platform and email
  • Satisfactorily capture and submit student attendance 
  • Build a warm and welcoming virtual classroom environment
  • Demonstrate virtual classroom management skills, including navigating between whole-group instruction and small-group and individual support
  • Attend weekly coaching meetings with Instructional Coach and Supervisor
 

Leadership Responsibilities (30%)

  • Respond to student communication (emails & messages) about SAT Prep and operations, including but not limited to program launch, diagnostic completion, and scheduling
  • Assist PM in instructor training and program debrief initiatives, including delivering select content and leading a space for instructors to practice during the training period
  • Facilitate the second day of testing for Diag 1 and 2 and support with other diagnostic testing initiatives as needed
  • Additional duties may be included (such as class coverage, zoom moderator)
 

Qualifications and Experience

Let’s Get Ready seeks individuals committed to supporting high school students to achieve their college goals. Candidates should:

  • Have a high level of comfort/expertise with SAT Reading/Writing or SAT Math content 
  • Be a current undergraduate student (preferred) or graduate student.
  • Must have a schedule that allows for teaching classes at the same time for the duration of the program (9 weeks).
  • Have a passion for supporting student success, with a specific interest and comfort working with high school students from underserved communities.
  • Have exceptional communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Have reliable access to a computer with a webcam, mic, and a reliable internet connection for virtual instruction. Please alert us ASAP if this is a challenge. 
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity, inclusion, and educational equity.
  • Be comfortable working independently and dependently in a virtual environment.

  • In good academic standing and plan to be enrolled in college in school year 2024-2025
  • Previous experience serving as a mentor to first-generation college students
  • Excellent self-motivation skills
  • Current or previous involvement in campus (student club/organizations, tutoring, orientation leader, work-study, etc.)
  • Experience with data entry is a plus
 

Additional Information about this Position:

This is a temporary,  part- time remote position that requires 12 to 16 hours per week. The schedule varies, but instructors are expected to commit to the position from January 3rd, 2025 through April 4th, 2025. Flexibility will be offered for school breaks/personal breaks as appropriate to meet program objectives and in consultation with your manager.

 

Required Working Hours:

  • SAT Teaching Dates/Times: 
    • January 27th - March 28th (9 weeks); 5-7 PM Eastern (Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday)
  • Administrative Dates/Times  
    • Jan 3rd - April 4th (13 weeks); 4 hours weekly
    • Sunday, Feb 2nd - 9:00am - 12:30pm Eastern Time 
    • Sunday, March 23rd - 9:00am - 12:30pm Eastern Time

Require Trainings:

  • A prerequisite for this role is all hired instructors MUST be able to attend each of the following virtual training sessions prior to program launch:  
    • Fri, Jan 3rd - 4:00pm - 7:00pm Eastern Time
    • Wed, Jan 8th - 4:00pm - 7:00pm Eastern Time
    • Thurs, Jan 9th - 4:00pm - 7:00pm Eastern Time
    • Wed, Jan 15th - 4:00pm - 7:00pm Eastern Time
    • Thurs, Jan 16th - 4:00pm - 7:00pm Eastern Time
 

Compensation: 

The hourly wage is at least $12.00/hour or your work location’s minimum wage - whichever is higher.

 

This position runs from Jan 3rd, 2025 through April 4th, 2025.
