What you’ll be doing...

By joining Verizon as a leader in the Corporate Communications organization, you will have the opportunity to lead communications for Verizon Business Group, a $30 billion business focused on delivering solutions and products to power and empower global enterprises, small and medium businesses, government and public sector customers.

This role will oversee all aspects of Verizon Business Group communications and lead a team focused on telling the story of how we serve more businesses than any competitor and the unbeatable solutions we bring to our customers every day. Further, this position will lead a globally dispersed team focused on media relations, employee engagement, thought leadership and reputation management. As a senior Verizon communicator, this individual will also be an active participant in crisis and issues communications and an advisor to leaders across the organization.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy across earned media and owned content that drives company priorities, business goals and product initiatives.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to secure positive media coverage and manage crisis communication when necessary.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists and influencers in the technology and industry sectors.

  • Engage internal and external stakeholders in innovative ways to drive results and leverage segmentation and targeting to get the right message to the right audience.

  • Be data-driven at the core and proactively integrate new tools and tactics (i.e. AI) to optimize outreach.

  • Provide strategic counsel to the executive team, ensuring a consistent and effective leadership message externally and internally.

  • Lead a high-performing communications team, fostering a culture of trust, care and excellence.

  • Work cross-functionally to address the needs of key stakeholders, including investors, customers, employees and partners.

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience

  • 12 years+ experience in leading a large communications team in a corporate or agency setting
  • Expert in corporate communications, public relations, crisis management, and executive communications
  • Deep understanding of how to develop integrated communications with a focus on product and marketing
  • Experience spearheading and developing AI-lead tools, tactics, or means of connecting with audiences via newer, innovative tools/channels
  • Highly strategic mindset, including strong instincts and a demonstrated ability to identify media moments and opportunities and to develop, execute and deli
  • Experience with segmentation and targeting to get the right message to the right audience
  • Exceptional leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and relationship management skills with the ability to manage others, as well as across, up and down an organization
  • Demonstrated success as a Communications Business Partner to a C-suite executive in a multi-national, matrixed organization
  • Experience leading transformational projects and rolling out new processes as a hands-on leader
  • Ability to influence at an executive level through exceptional business acumen, domain expertise, and written/verbal communication
  • Significant experience managing multiple projects with a proven track record of delivering results and achieving targets – ROI-focused and data-driven at every level
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, pivot quickly, and respond with urgency
  • Experience utilizing digital channels and comfort leveraging AI to elevate performance
  • Inspirational leader with a track record of hiring and developing world-class talent and fostering a collaborative culture
