What you’ll be doing…

Verizon seeks a talented and motivated Senior Manager, Regulatory Compliance and Reporting to join its Public Policy team. This position will report to the Senior Managing Associate General Counsel responsible for state and local regulatory and policy matters, and will specifically support Verizon’s legal team that handles those responsibilities. The candidate will work closely with our legal and state government affairs teams, business partners, and the state and local regulators to respond to provide required reports to regulatory agencies and support the legal team in handling formal and informal cases that come from those regulatory agencies. The candidate must have sound business judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to assess and improve workflow processes.  The ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment is critical, as is the ability to develop key relationships and maintain a visible presence with regulatory officials.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining an active list of required regulatory reporting, gathering and organizing the information required to complete such reports, gaining necessary approvals for the reports, and ensuring that the reports are filed timely and accurately with regulatory bodies.

  • Tracking an inventory of all bill messages that regulators require Verizon to provide to customers and ensuring that our commitment to provide these messages to customers is met; managing an internal and vendor budget related to bill messages.

  • Supporting regulatory attorneys in handling formal and informal cases, proceedings, and complaints in various states.

  • Working independently in resolving multiple regulatory requirements, including analyzing, responding to and advising on the best manner to address these requirements.

  • Keeping current on and ensure adherence to state and local regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Becoming fluent in Verizon’s wireless and wireline product portfolio.

  • Working to identify opportunities to streamline and reduce burdens.

  • Working to develop new tools to streamline the processes.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and / or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience preparing formal reports.

  • Experience in regulatory compliance, regulatory reporting or risk management.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.

  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communications.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines.

  • Confidence, versatility and a customer service attitude to interact with government officials as a primary point of contact for Verizon.

  • Comfort with new technologies including automation that promote efficiencies.

  • A strong interest in policy and politics.

  • A general understanding of state and local regulatory law.

  • An interest in current or future legal training.

  • Strong understanding of the internal Verizon processes.

  • Strong relationship building, influencing, and communications skills.

  • Experience with organizational reviews and commitment to improving and harmonizing processes.

  • A creative mind that asks if there is a better way to do things than what is currently being done.
