POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Volumetric and Fixed Asset Accounting Assistant to support our accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

** This is a contract position for a 14-month period

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze and record all fixed asset transactions to appropriate asset classes, ensuring they align with capital nature requirements for both the general ledger and regulatory (CER) books
  • Accumulate project costs in appropriate fixed asset accounts, and confirm any retirements and disposals with project managers by reviewing historical records.
  • Reconcile the fixed asset subledgers with the general ledger and calculate monthly depreciation.
  • Prepare and post monthly depreciation accruals and fixed asset journal entries.
  • Monitor the In-Service status of ongoing capital projects through regular communication with project managers.
  • Track and manage capital projects under construction, ensuring projects align with financial reporting.
  • Prepare all fixed asset continuity schedules and capital cost allowance (CCA) documentation for income tax purposes.
  • Liaise with government, shareholders, and auditors for fixed asset management and compliance.
  • Update fixed asset subledger and cost center files for regulatory tariff applications and annual reporting.
  • Maintain and update tariff rates and monthly over/under pricing in the Volumetric Accounting System (VAS).
  • Oversee the daily ticket distribution process from VAS and act as a liaison between the Oil Movement Scheduling Department and shippers to manage volumetric product receipts and deliveries and resolve ticketing discrepancies.
  • Manage product inventory for airport tank deliveries, reconcile closing inventories, and update volumetric product movement reports.
  • Review and monitor the Tender Analysis Report (volumetric batches) to ensure quality assurance in product movements.
  • Prepare month-end shipper billing, generating monthly invoices and reports for shippers and internal teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 2 years of proven experience in volumetric accounting, or fixed assets in a pipeline or linear asset environment with accounting or ERP system knowledge.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent education.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with demonstrated analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preference for:

  • Enrolled in Chartered Professional Accountant Program or Chartered Professional Accountant.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and practices 
  • Bilingual (English and French) – please submit your resume in English.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • TNPI offers a flexible work policy that allows for hybrid or remote work arrangements. Employees who are permitted to work a flexible work arrangement, will be required to attend the physical office location in Richmond Hill, located at 310-45 Vogell Road occasionally, as required.
