Job Overview

This position provides an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a rapidly expanding company renowned for its impressive portfolio of over 9GW of projects, actively shaping the future of energy infrastructure.

As a Real Estate Attorney specializing in renewable energy, your expertise will be pivotal in facilitating land acquisition and development transactions. You will collaborate with various cross-functional teams, including Project Development, Finance, and Engineering, to address legal matters essential for utility-scale renewable projects and further the company's mission of delivering sustainable energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the legal authority in lease negotiations, land options, purchase agreements, easements, and site control agreements for renewable energy projects.
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate land agreements pertinent to utility-scale renewable energy ventures.
  • Deliver legal guidance on title, survey, and mineral due diligence, including comprehensive land use research.
  • Supervise financial closings concerning renewable energy land development, purchases, and lease transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including outside legal counsel, to facilitate seamless land acquisition and project financing processes.

Required Skills

  • A minimum of 3 years of legal experience managing substantial infrastructure real estate transactions, ideally within the renewable energy sector.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in drafting and evaluating real estate agreements such as purchase/sales agreements, lease terms, easements, and option agreements.
  • Strong foundation in land negotiations and commercial real estate transactions, with a comprehensive understanding of title issues, mineral rights, and permitting processes.
  • Familiarity with the utility-scale renewable energy development lifecycle, including interconnection, permitting, and pre-construction activities is desirable.
  • Expertise in overseeing site control agreements, managing financial closings, and navigating complex mergers and acquisitions (M&A) related to land transactions.
