Position Overview
We invite you to join a prestigious higher education institution as a Senior Manager of Budget and Finance. In this pivotal role, you will report directly to the Director of Administration and Strategic Initiatives, and be responsible for steering the budgeting, reporting, and forecasting operations. You will work closely with various departments and stakeholders, fostering collaboration across the organization.
As the principal financial analyst, you will oversee the formulation of our $12 million operating budget, guiding it through all stages from preparation to executive approval. This role demands robust analytical capabilities, technical proficiency, and superior interpersonal skills to effectively engage with departments and finance colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead the development and implementation of multi-year and annual budget plans.
- Manage the annual budget process, ensuring the timely completion of campus templates and system inputs.
- Collaborate with leadership to prepare annual budgets and produce necessary reports.
- Create and present tailored reports to internal and external stakeholders, including senior management and budget owners.
- Provide insights on complex financial projects and facilitate monthly ledger reviews and fiscal close processes.
- Establish ongoing processes for monitoring budget-to-actuals and financial reporting.
- Approve financial transactions and fund allocations in partnership with department heads.
- Advocate for budgetary needs and collaborate with campus leadership to sustain the organization's financial health.
- Ensure adherence to financial procedures and recommend enhancements to internal controls.
- Mentor and supervise finance staff, nurturing a collaborative team culture.
- Provide training for staff on financial processes and systems.
- Advise leadership on critical budgetary decisions and engage in long-term financial planning.
- Participate in financial system upgrades, audits, and organization-wide projects.
Required Skills
- Advanced knowledge of financial accounting principles and compliance requirements.
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting or a financial role.
- Demonstrated expertise in budget management and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in accounting software, particularly Excel and Oracle.
- Excellent communication abilities and capacity to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with campus financial processes and systems is preferred.
- An advanced degree or relevant certifications are advantageous.

Compensation And Benefits
This full-time exempt position offers a comprehensive benefits package. The anticipated salary range for this role is \(98,600 to \)120,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position allows for up to 20% remote work, with specific arrangements made in consultation with your supervisor.
