What you’ll be doing...

This position supports the Tax department to ensure accurate billing of taxes (transactional & regulatory taxes) to Verizon’s customers. The individual in this position will support new product/service launches and new promotions/discounts across the entire company. This includes determining the tax classification of a new product or promotion, ensuring all relevant documentation is provided to Tax, and managing the project from start to finish from a Tax perspective. 


Responsibilities:

In addition to gaining exposure to a world-class Tax department, this role is responsible for the following:

  • Evaluate & analyze the product & services to determine tax classifications.

  • Evaluate & analyze promotions & discounts to determine tax classifications.

  • Attend & participate in numerous project calls to review new projects & assess tax impact.

  • Attend & participate in the numerous project team meetings to provide tax classification requirements.

  • Research, analyze, and resolve production issues.

  • Maintain ongoing data integrity and accuracy relating to reference and documentation databases. 

  • Field questions/inquiries from business partners and customer care on tax rules.

  • Build support tools to improve processes & gain efficiencies.  

  • Other duties as assigned.  

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Information Systems or four or more years of work experience.

  • Five or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft Word/Excel and/or Google Docs/Sheets.

  • Ability to interface with Tax and Regulatory Legal, Tax Technology, Product Management and Marketing teams, and other business groups.

  • Strong research and technical skills including knowledge of billing system requirements and development life cycles.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills to partner effectively across the Tax/Regulatory organization, as well as presentation skills and the ability to present to senior management.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • CPA or JD preferred.

  • Experience with Taxation systems preferred.

  • Strong leadership skills and a proven history of experience in successfully managing multiple teams and multiple projects are required including the ability to drive positive change.

  • Working understanding of digital finance tools to drive automation and process efficiencies.

  • Strong command of SOX 404 and internal controls.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience using Alteryx, SQL, and relational databases.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
