Job description

We are hiring at Valsoft for an experienced Cyber Insurance Professional with a strong background in cyber underwriting to join our growing team!

This key role will focus on evaluating and optimizing the cyber insurance coverage for Valsoft and its subsidiaries worldwide. Previous experience in Cyber Underwriting, Risk Management, International Insurance, and M&A support is highly advantageous.

Valsoft acquires and grows software businesses that provide mission-critical solutions in niche vertical markets. With a global portfolio of companies operating across diverse industries, we recognize the increasing importance of robust cyber risk management and insurance coverage. As we expand internationally, we are seeking a seasoned expert to ensure that our global operations are comprehensively protected against cyber risks.

Here is a little window into our company: Valsoft was founded in 2015 in Montreal, Canada. Our focus is to acquire and grow vertical market software businesses that provide mission-critical solutions in their respective niche markets. So far, we have acquired over 90+ businesses across 25+ industries and have 3000+ employees across 14+ countries. In 2023, Great Place to Work® named Valsoft one of the best workplaces in the financial services industry.

Our motto is 'Be Humble, Stay Hungry!'

The successful candidate can be based anywhere in Ireland, working in a remote work model!

What your day will look like:

  • Global Cyber Coverage Review: Conduct a comprehensive assessment of existing cyber insurance policies for Valsoft and its international subsidiaries. Identify any coverage gaps or regional inadequacies, ensuring all global operations have robust protection against cyber risks, tailored to the regulatory and threat landscapes of different countries.
  • Cyber Risk Identification and Mitigation: Analyze the unique cyber risks faced by subsidiaries in various regions based on industry, geographic location, and local regulatory environments. Work with internal teams to provide specific recommendations for reducing cyber exposure and addressing vulnerabilities.
  • International Insurance Strategy and Optimization: Develop a comprehensive cyber insurance strategy that ensures all Valsoft businesses across the globe have optimal, cost-effective coverage. This includes advising on the appropriate levels of coverage, endorsements, and limits based on local cyber threats and emerging global risks.
  • Policy Restructuring and Global Negotiations: Restructure existing policies where necessary to align with the risk profile of each business. Lead negotiations with insurers and brokers in multiple markets, ensuring favorable terms, limits, and premiums for Valsoft and its international subsidiaries.
  • M&A Due Diligence Support (Global Scope): Collaborate closely with Valsoft’s Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team to evaluate the cyber insurance programs of target companies across various regions. This includes assessing the adequacy of existing cyber insurance policies in different jurisdictions, identifying past cyber incidents, and ensuring proper remediation or disclosure of any potential liabilities.
  • Global Cyber Incident Review: Review the history of cyber incidents within Valsoft’s current and potential future acquisitions across different countries. Advise on how these incidents may impact future risk exposure, insurance requirements, and liability at both the local and global levels.
  • Claims Management and Global Support: Serve as the main point of contact for all cyber insurance claims, including those occurring internationally. Guide Valsoft’s global business units through the cyber insurance claims process, ensuring compliance with regional regulations and achieving timely and favorable outcomes. Take ownership of any in-progress claims, providing expertise in managing ongoing claims with insurers, adjusters, and regional stakeholders.
  • Risk Communication and Advisory (International Focus): Act as the key advisor for subsidiaries worldwide, providing guidance on their cyber insurance and risk management needs. Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, legal, and IT teams, ensuring decisions are informed by both local and global cyber risks.
  • Collaboration with Legal and IT Teams (Global Alignment): Partner with Valsoft’s legal, risk management, and IT departments to maintain a comprehensive understanding of the evolving global cybersecurity landscape, as well as the specific regulatory requirements that impact cyber insurance coverage needs across different countries.
  • Ongoing Global Monitoring and Risk Assessment: Continuously monitor the effectiveness of Valsoft’s cyber insurance policies globally, recommending adjustments as necessary. Ensure that all international subsidiaries are well-prepared for evolving cyber threats by regularly assessing new risks and vulnerabilities in each region.

About You:

  • Proven experience in cyber underwriting and cyber insurance, with a deep understanding of international cyber risk management practices and policies
  • Demonstrated international experience, with an ability to navigate the complexities of cyber insurance across different regions and regulatory environments
  • Experience supporting Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) processes by evaluating the insurance landscape and past cyber incidents of companies across multiple jurisdictions
  • Expertise in handling cyber insurance claims on a global scale, with a track record of guiding businesses through the claims process and managing in-progress claims across regions
  • Excellent negotiation skills, with experience working with global insurers and securing favourable insurance terms in international markets
  • Ability to assess and communicate cyber risks across various industries and regions, recommending tailored solutions for different business needs
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and regional stakeholders across multiple international business units
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize in a fast-paced, global environment
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, is essential
  • Legally authorised to work in Ireland

Why Valsoft?

  • Join a rapidly growing company with a diverse, international portfolio of businesses operating in multiple regions and industries
  • Work in a collaborative and innovative environment that values professional growth, global exposure, and development
