Job Overview

Join our dedicated team as a Mental Health Counselor, where you will play a crucial role in assessing and coordinating mental health services for incarcerated individuals. This remote position offers you the opportunity to create individualized release plans that promote the well-being and effective rehabilitation of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct crisis intervention to assess psychiatric emergencies and provide immediate support for emotionally distressed and mentally ill inmates.
• Implement comprehensive suicide prevention strategies through thorough evaluations and targeted interventions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including facility and medical staff, to address the specialized needs of inmates and ensure holistic care.
• Deliver medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and substance abuse counseling to support inmates along their recovery journey.
• Develop tailored treatment plans for psychiatric inmates requiring intensive behavior management, ensuring proper referrals for medication management.
• Facilitate connections with community mental health agencies and families to coordinate care and assist with discharge planning.
• Complete needs assessments and design personalized release plans that connect inmates experiencing mental illness to appropriate community resources.
• Ensure the safety and security of staff and inmates while making informed clinical decisions.
• Participate in on-call duties for off-hours mental health coverage as required.
• Provide mental health training to jail staff to enhance their support capabilities for inmate care.
• Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in social work, clinical psychology, psychiatric nursing, or a related field.
