Part of the Ansys family, the Lumerical solvers team is a leading developer of photonic simulation software – software which enables research and development professionals to predict how light behaves within complex structures, circuits, and systems.  Photonics unlocks many possibilities for the world’s most innovative companies who increasingly rely on virtual prototyping to explore new product concepts and optimize designs. Our customers are developing the technology of tomorrow – things like LiDAR systems for autonomous cars, virtual reality headsets, cellphone cameras, communications equipment for data centers and new platforms for quantum computing.

 

As an Intern at Ansys, you will work under the supervision of experienced R&D engineers developing innovative solutions to challenging and industrially relevant problems. You will be part of a team of computational physics experts, contributing to projects that enhance product capabilities help our customers achieve their goals using Ansys photonic simulation software. 

 

This internship is a full-time, remote opportunity, and will begin in January 2025 and conclude in August 2025.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Performs all DevOps activities, including the implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and verification of product builds and packaging to provide quality production builds  
  • Understands and follows the DevOps processes  
  • Operates DevOps tools and flows  
  • Understands and employs best practices  
  • Works closely with development to adjust builds and packaging to changing product requirements  
  • Participates in implementation of new solutions  
  • Works under the general supervision of a DevOps manager  

  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Pursing a Diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field  
  • Good knowledge of Linux-based operating systems and tools  
  • Knowledge of code versioning tools (e.g. Git, SVN, Perforce)  
  • Knowledge of Java, Python and/or shell scripting 

  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Thorough knowledge of Linux operating systems   
  • Experience using Git for version control, including branching, pull requests and other operations  
  • Knowledge of CI/CD software, such as Azure DevOps and/or Bamboo  
  • Experience using CMake, SCons, Bazel, or other build tools  
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills   
  • Proven ability to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team  
  • Experience building large software projects in a commercial, academic or open-source environment  
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills  
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design and basic data structures and algorithms
