Job description

As a Senior Build Engineer at Magnopus, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimising the build and integration pipelines for a diverse range of projects. Whether supporting client-facing Studio work or proprietary Product development, you will ensure that build processes are efficient, scalable, and reliable, enabling smooth production workflows across multiple platforms.

Collaborating with a cross-disciplinary team, you will leverage your expertise in CI/CD systems, build environments, and version control tools to streamline both internal development and external project delivery. Your contributions will help us achieve our mission of bridging the physical and digital divide, enabling the creation of interconnected experiences for clients and contributing to the broader spatial internet ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Managing the build process across environments, ensuring integration requests are completed efficiently, improving build times, and overseeing UK-based build agents.
  • Developing and maintaining scalable, reliable build pipelines, including product release builds.
  • Automating builds with CI/CD systems like TeamCity, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions, and scripting with Python and batch scripts.
  • Managing TeamCity scheduling and coordinating release timelines.
  • Maintaining and optimising version control systems, particularly GitHub.
  • Communicating build statuses, risks, and issues to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating with technical leads and teams to address build issues and resolve bottlenecks in the development process.
  • Ensuring all work is tested appropriately, maintaining high quality throughout the build pipeline.
  • Identifying and implementing solutions to technical challenges, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Providing guidance on specialist tasks, identifying opportunities for process improvements, and supporting departmental best practices.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team knowledge transfer and development.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation of build processes and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Maintaining strong communication and collaboration across teams to improve workflows and provide constructive feedback.

  • Requirements
  • Expert-level experience with Python for automation and scripting.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD systems like TeamCity, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions.
  • Strong experience with batch scripts.
  • Solid experience with Visual Studio-based build environments.
  • Proficient with GitHub for version control and collaboration.

  • Nice to have
  • Experience with project generation tools like CMake or Premake.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine and Unity-based build pipelines.
  • Experience with Jira for project management and issue tracking.
  • Experience with Perforce version control systems.
