The role of Exploratory Software Tester

Glean are looking for a talented, passionate Exploratory Software Tester who wants to be part of a small, beautifully formed and growing engineering team. 

We are focussed on pragmatic delivery with quality at the centre of everything we do. We use a mixture of front-end (TypeScript, React) and back-end technologies (JVM / Kotlin), with an automated build pipeline (Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm).

You’ll work alongside a team aspiring to be the best engineering team they can be, by constantly asking, "given what we know now, is there anything we should change?".

đź’» What you’ll be doing: 

As a Exploratory Software Tester at Glean, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products. You’ll be responsible for conducting exploratory testing to ensure the software created by the delivery team meets the needs of the business. 

You'll work closely with our delivery team and support functions to develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies, ensuring that our software meets the highest standards.

 

About you: 

Technical:

  • Develop, modify, and update test strategies for projects.
  • Adopt a risk-based approach to testing.
  • Apply various testing strategies (e.g., manual, exploratory, automated) as appropriate.
  • Create and maintain high-quality tests and test strategies.
  • Focus on the testability of delivered solutions.
  • Integrate software components and third-party programs.
  • Verify and deploy programs and systems.
  • Recommend and execute technical improvements.   
  • Create clear technical documentation.
  • Continuously learn and develop your technical expertise.
  • Support releases through test environments to production.

Interpersonal:

  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Mentor other team members and share your knowledge.
  • Be open-minded and willing to consider different perspectives.
  • Assume we are all well intentioned and want the best for Glean.

ÂŁ38,000 - ÂŁ46,000 dependent upon experience

Location: 

We have a beautiful office space in Leeds and we love it when we get together to collaborate in person. We typically operate a hybrid way of working, however some of our roles support remote working within the UK, if you live more than 50 miles from the office.

đź’ˇ What to expect next: 

We’ll review your application and provide a response within 1 week. Even if it’s not the news you’d hoped for, we appreciate it’s good to know either way. 

If we invite you to meet with us for interview, here’s an overview of what the process will look like: 

  1. Screening interview with someone in our Recruitment team (30 minutes). 
  2. You will be sent an at-home test to complete which will be assessed by the Engineering team.
  3. If successful, you will proceed to a Technical interview with a Tester and Engineer.
  4. Final stage interview which includes a 30 minute CV review and 1 hour Culture and Values interview.

Ahead of your interview you will receive a confirmation email outlining who you’ll be meeting and when, anything you’ll need to prepare in advance and any resources we think you might find helpful.
