This is a remote position.

Job Overview:

The Traffic Planner is responsible for developing, preparing, and managing Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) and Traffic Management Plans (TMP) in compliance with relevant Australian Standards, the Queensland Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (QGTTM), and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). This role requires the use of specialised software and tools, such as RapidPlan, Microsoft Word, and Excel, to design, assess, and manage traffic control plans, ensuring safety, compliance, and effective traffic flow on construction sites, roadworks, and other projects.

Job Description:

Development of Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) & Traffic Management Plans (TMP):
  • Design and develop Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) that effectively manage traffic flow, minimise disruption, and ensure safety on work sites.
  • Prepare detailed Traffic Management Plans (TMP) to manage temporary traffic control in line with project requirements.
  • Ensure all TGS and TMP documentation is developed in compliance with QGTTM, MUTCD, and Australian Standards.
Software Utilisation:
  • Use RapidPlan software for designing Traffic Guidance Schemes to provide visual representations of traffic control measures.
  • Draft and edit Traffic Management Plans using Microsoft Word and Excel, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
Risk Assessments:
  • Conduct Risk Assessments for both Traffic Guidance Schemes and Traffic Management Plans, identifying potential hazards and suggesting effective mitigation strategies.
  • Complete and document risk assessments in Microsoft Office and Excel, ensuring comprehensive risk management.
Compliance and Standards:
  • Ensure all traffic management designs and plans comply with regulatory requirements, including those from local road authorities and safety standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in relevant guidelines, regulations, and traffic management technology.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and construction teams to ensure traffic management plans align with the broader project scope and timelines.
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations to site teams and stakeholders on traffic control measures and procedures.
  • Prepare and present reports on traffic management performance, updates, and compliance to stakeholders as needed.
Project Coordination:
  • Coordinate with local authorities, councils, and other relevant bodies to ensure that all necessary approvals and permits are in place for traffic management plans.
  • Assist in resolving any site-related traffic issues or emergencies that may arise during the course of the project.


Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in developing Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) and Traffic Management Plans (TMP) to QGTTM, MUTCD, and Australian Standards.
  • Proficiency in RapidPlan software is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of traffic management principles, guidelines, and regulatory requirements in Queensland.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
