InDebted is changing the world of consumer debt collection for good. We’ve disrupted the traditional debt collection industry by providing businesses with a better way to support overdue customers to get back on track. Our solution is product-led, driven by AI and ML, and places customer experience at the core.

We’re fully remote, with a team of over 300 people living and working all around the world. Founded in Australia, we’ve since expanded into the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand. We’ve doubled our revenue year over year, with significant growth on the horizon. Now is an incredible time to join the team as we continue on our mission to help millions of consumers resolve debt, better.

We're seeking a collaborative and visionary Engineering Manager to lead our Foundational Engineering team and drive our technical evolution in partnership with key stakeholders across the organisation.

Your Role

As the Engineering Manager of our Foundational Engineering team, you'll lead a team of 5 engineers focused on Data Engineering, core infrastructure, DevOps, Engineering Security and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). You'll work closely with our Head of Engineering, Staff Engineers, and other Engineering Managers to make critical technical decisions that shape our infrastructure and engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-On Technical Leadership: Combine deep technical expertise with leadership skills. Be prepared to actively contribute to code, architecture, and system design while guiding your team.
Team Leadership: Guide, grow and mentor a team of skilled engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Strategic Planning: Partner with cross-functional leaders to develop and execute a technical roadmap that aligns with InDebted's business objectives and growth trajectory.
Technical Decision-Making: Collaborate with engineering leadership to make key architectural and technology choices that ensure scalability, security, and reliability of our systems.
Enabling Team Function: Operate as a core enabling team, actively supporting and upskilling other engineering teams to build and operate their systems more effectively.
Innovation Driver: Identify and champion new technologies and methodologies that can give InDebted a competitive edge in the market.

Your Impact

- Continuously evolve our core platform to stay ahead of business needs and support sustainable growth.
- Elevate our data engineering capabilities, enabling more informed decision-making across the organisation.
- Implement robust DevOps and SRE practices that enhance system reliability and developer productivity.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence that attracts and retains top talent.

What We're Looking For

- Proven experience leading engineering teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Deep technical expertise in cloud architecture, data engineering, and modern DevOps practices.
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to influence without authority across various teams and levels.
- A strategic mindset that balances immediate needs with long-term technical vision.
- Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills, adept at translating complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Why InDebted?

- Opportunity to solve complex challenges at the intersection of finance and technology.
- Collaborative, remote-first culture that values work-life balance.
- Competitive compensation package including equity.
- Autonomy to shape core infrastructure and engineering practices in partnership with senior leader
