What You Will Do:
As a Principal / Lead Level Designer, you will spearhead the world creation for an exciting new AAA Action MMORPG game.  You’ll be responsible for directing level design of the open world, dungeons, and more to drive the player experience in this new fantasy IP.  If you are passionate about crafting immersive and engaging worlds, and are looking to join a dynamic team in the development of a cutting-edge game, we want to hear from you!
  • Lead the world creation process from idea, through iteration in engine, to handoff to the art team to finalize visuals.
  • Work in-engine, with both whitebox and final assets, to define combat and exploration spaces, level flow, pacing, and aesthetic direction.
  • Collaborate with the Art Director and Environment Art teams to establish and realize the visual goals for each new location.
  • Work with other departments to ensure consistency in game mechanics and fulfill narrative goals.
  • Create and document specifications, guidelines, and best practices to maintain quality standards across the game.
  • Direct, inspire, and mentor a team of level designers with your vision.
  • Find and tackle technical issues to ensure smooth gameplay, and work with the Tools team to build the best pipeline.
What We’re Looking For:
  • 5+ years of experience in game level design, with experience in Senior or Leadership roles.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing levels for Open World games.
  • Unreal game engine expertise (or other equivalent modern game engine).
  • Excellent understanding of gameplay space design theory and methodology.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present and articulate concepts to team members, as well as senior management.
  • A passion for video games and game development.
  • Ability to work well within a cross-discipline, iterative, team environment.

Bonus Points :
  • Love of fantasy universes in any form of media.
  • World building and arts background is a plus, but not required.
  • Deep technical knowledge in Unreal engine is a plus, but not required.
  • Passion for games, community, and creating rich player experiences.
  • Experience with multiplayer games a plus.
