Shell Recharge Solutions is seeking a Applications Engineer, Charging!

 

Shell Recharge Solutions is looking for a Applications Engineer, Charging to join our team and help create and improve existing Electric Vehicle charging products, ranging from simple hardware items to complex systems. The role will include collaboration with Product, Engineering, Network Operations and our client-facing Business Development teams to ensure charging installations meet standards on a cost-effective, efficient basis.  Regular coordination with vendors will be required, along with testing products and processes related to charging station installations.

Shell Recharge Solutions business focuses on delivering turnkey EV charging solutions to strategic and large key accounts in North America.  Shell Recharge Solutions generates business with those accounts – utilities, cities, fleets, and commercial customers – in part through the submission of customer-generated Requests for Proposals (RFPs).  Upon RFP award, Shell Recharge Solutions then ensures the success of that EV Charging project by delivering seamless, best-in-class solutions.

 

What you’ll do: The Applications Engineer will support Shell Recharge Solutions’ North America E-Mobility Division, responsibilities will include:

  • Provide operational and market insights from the field to inform Product team direction and prioritization
  • Develop, vet, and test operational requirements on new products, support new product development
  • Ensure all product updates are thoroughly documented, including changes in design, functionality, and performance. Maintain clear and detailed records of all updates.
  • Coordinate and conduct comprehensive testing of new products, working closely with cross-functional teams. This includes both field tests and lab tests at our San Francisco and Los Angeles offices to ensure product performance and reliability.
  • Create thorough and accurate test plans, test reports, and other documentation
  • Prepare detailed engineering and design documentation, as well as installation guides for new products. This documentation will be used to ensure consistent and correct installation and deployment of EV charging systems.
  • Manage pilot installations of new products when necessary
  • Work with various teams to source ideas for new products or sustaining projects for existing products
  • Develop comprehensive deployment plans for rolling out product updates across all EV chargers. This includes coordinating with field workers and contractors to ensure smooth and efficient implementation.
  • Provide that deployment plan with field workers and contractors: Communicate the deployment plan to field workers and contractors, providing them with the necessary documentation, training, and support to execute the updates effectively.


What We’re Looking For: 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree [ML1] with 2-4 years’ relevant professional experience (hardware engineer, design engineer, project manager, electrical engineer, etc.)  
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Good organizational and process management skills.  Ability to work across functional areas within a company to achieve win-win result.
  • Familiar with the engineering, permitting, construction, and maintenance processes of field equipment, such as communications, EVSE, solar, etc.  Comfortable reading, understanding, and utilizing single line diagrams, electrical systems, civil and construction concepts
  • Knowledge of construction, engineering, and product codes and standards (ASCE, UL, NEC etc)
  • Mechanically inclined, comfortable and experienced with hand and power tools
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of CAD, 2-D, 3-D design tools.
  • Experience in the Electric Vehicle industry
  • Passion for environmental issues and renewable energy.
