Statewide Transit Group Manager – Benesch Florida Division

We are searching for an experienced Group Manager to lead and grow the transit practice in Florida. This position can be based in any of our Florida offices, including Tampa, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, or Miami. The right candidate will bring enthusiasm and energy to lead our Florida transit practice to the next level. Reporting to the Florida Division Manager, a Group Manager position at Benesch is an outstanding leadership opportunity with great visibility at the state, regional, and national leadership levels, including the potential for ownership in Benesch.

This position offers an opportunity to lead an existing group of 20+ transit planning and operations professionals, starting with a solid backlog of work and existing contracts with FDOT and local agencies throughout Florida and the US. Critical work areas for this position include transit planning and design, transit operations, paratransit, microtransit, scheduling, and state/federal compliance, among others. The ideal candidate will be a certified Planner or Professional Engineer with proven experience in business and client development and the pursuit, management, and delivery of transit projects and services for public agencies, including DOTs, counties, municipalities, and MPOs.

What You Will Do
  • Lead, manage, and grow our Florida-based transit group
  • Be accountable for group performance and contribution to the Florida Division profit center
  • Contribute to local, regional, and corporate strategic growth initiatives, including expansion of transit planning and operational analysis throughout Florida (and beyond)
  • Develop and manage relationships with existing and new clients
  • Represent Benesch at industry and professional organizations and events
  • Identify opportunities and lead strategic project pursuits
  • Collaborate with Benesch leadership on the national transit strategic initiative throughout the US., with a focus on Benesch’s 48 offices in 20 states
What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, planning, or related discipline
  • Certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planning (AICP) or licensure as a Professional Engineer
  • Progressive leadership experience of 15 or more years
  • Successful history and experience working with FDOT and local agencies throughout Florida
  • Progressive experience in project development and delivery of transit projects
  • Excellent communication, business development, project management, and client relationship development skills
  • Effective communication, organizational, and leadership skills with a history of understanding and adhering to contractual requirements
  • Ability to lead, manage, and grow a diverse, dynamic team
