The LPHA-School Based Behavioral Health Clinician (SBBHC) is the result of a collaboration between Hill Country MHDD Centers, Hays CISD, Hays County Health Department, and the City of Kyle in effort to address the behavioral health needs (substance use and mental health) of youth residing in Kyle, Texas. The LPHASBBHC and Hays CISD school faculty and staff will work together to identify and provide behavioral health intervention and treatment services to students who are using or have used substances, primarily Fentanyl and other Opiates; however, services for alcohol, tobacco/nicotine, and other substance use will also be provided. The LPHA-SBBHC will also coordinate to develop and implement preventative programming with the Hays County Public Health Department Community Outreach Specialist. Students engaging in School Based Behavioral Health services who show medical necessity of Texas Resilience and Recovery Services will also have access to additional services, including psychiatric medication management, family partner support, and case management through Hill Country MHDD Centers.

 

You will get to:

 

• Provide behavioral health intervention and treatment services at Hays CISD school campuses with priority given to residents of Kyle, Texas and students attending schools located within the City of Kyle, regardless of residential address.

• Respond to student behavioral health needs, including crisis counseling, brief interventions, and treatment.

• Provide mental health services for eligible students ages 3-17 and/or outpatient substance use services for students ages 13-17 Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with flexibility for evening and weekend options should there be a demonstrated need.

• Maintain office at Hays CISD identified location and travel to meet with students at their respective location (school home, or other community location)

• Approach each referred student as a unique case to create a collaborative, individualized recovery plan that considers the student’s social environment and stage of change.

• Communicate and collaborate with parents/legal guardians regarding consent and services for the youth and family, as appropriate.

• Conduct substance use and mental health screenings, comprehensive diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, discharge planning, interventions and access to appropriate treatment supports.

• Complete training in and provide evidence-based treatments for adolescents with the goal of improving wellness, reducing the harmful effects of substance use, and teaching alternative coping strategies,

including:

 

o Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) will be used to address symptoms of depression and anxiety that are often related to substance use.

o Seeking Safety, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Matrix will be used to promote

abstinence from substance use and decrease the potential of chemical dependency.

o Trauma-focused CBT will be used to address any underlying trauma that may be contributing to substance use.

• Complete required training, documentation, service delivery according to State and Federal regulations, Hill Country MHDDC and the Substance Use Services Operational Plan, and abide by Hays CISD requirements.

 

Qualifications

You’ll definitely need:

Required:

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or marriage & family
  • Current licensure as LPC, LMFT, or LCSW in Texas
  • Minimum of 2 years providing direct substance use treatment -or- current licensure as LCDC

 

Preferred:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Current licensure as LPC-S, LMFT-S, or LCSW-S in Texas
  • Current dual license as LCDC with at least 2 years of experience providing direct substance use services to youth.
  • A valid Texas State Driver’s License.
  • Current automobile insurance and the ability to travel when necessary.

 

We’ll also want you to:

• Experience providing individual and group counseling

• Understanding of emotional and developmental disorders in children and adolescents

• Experience conducting screening, comprehensive diagnostic assessments, intake/admission, treatment

planning, documenting contacts and providing direct services

• Awareness of community resources and supports and ability to assist students and families with access

• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, families, school personnel, and community agencies

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, professionalism and ethical standards in all aspects of work

• Flexibility to adept to the unique needs and challenges of school-based environments

• Ability to work flexible hours and as part of multiple teams

• Ability to supervise master-level practicum students or licensed interns/associates

• Willingness to complete ANSA/CANS certification, complete training and use electronic health records,

including Netsmart My Avatar NX and CMBHS

  • Complete Hays CISD required trainings:

             - Behavioral Threat Assessment Training & School Behavior Threat Assessment

             - Youth Mental Health First Aid

            - Psychological First Aid

           - ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
