Job Overview

Join a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, specializing in the development of innovative utility-scale energy storage projects. With an impressive portfolio of over 9GW of projects and robust backing from private equity, our company is a leader in the renewable energy industry, poised for substantial growth.

In this pivotal position, you will take the lead on legal matters concerning renewable energy origination, land acquisition, and developmental transactions. You will work collaboratively with diverse teams including Project Development, Finance, EPC, O&M, and Transmission & Interconnection to navigate all legal facets of real estate and land development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert in lease negotiations, land options, purchase agreements, easements, and site control agreements for utility-scale renewable projects (solar, wind, energy storage) across multiple regions.
  • Draft, amend, and negotiate all legal land agreements pertinent to renewable energy initiatives.
  • Assist the Real Estate team in performing title, survey, and mineral due diligence, including researching land use regulations.
  • Facilitate the successful financial closure of land development purchase and lease transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including outside counsel, during the land acquisition and project financing processes.

Required Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of land title issues, mineral rights, and the permitting process related to real estate acquisition.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and review real estate documents, such as purchase/sales agreements, lease terms, easements, and covenants.
  • Strong foundation in land negotiations and commercial real estate transactions.
  • Familiarity with the renewable energy project lifecycle, including interconnection, permitting, and PPA negotiations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of legal expertise in large infrastructure land development transactions, preferably as a licensed attorney in renewable energy.
  • Experience at a recognized law firm is highly advantageous.
  • Proven track record in drafting and reviewing real estate documents.
