Job Overview

We are actively seeking an accomplished Internal Audit Control Manager with expertise in compliance to play a vital role in ensuring comprehensive audit coverage of federal, state, and GSE regulations applicable to our organization. This individual contributor position requires an individual who is adept at maintaining compliance matrices, advising audit teams, and upholding our commitment to quality control and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and regularly update regulatory compliance matrices to reflect federal, state, and GSE requirements.
  • Provide specialized compliance guidance for internal audits, projects, and validation activities as necessary.
  • Assist audit teams in identifying relevant compliance coverage pertinent to audits.
  • Develop test steps for regulatory compliance and review findings from regulatory audits.
  • Participate in compliance change management meetings to remain informed about departmental activities.
  • Conduct training sessions on compliance for departmental personnel and propose enhancements for audit procedures and programs.
  • Contribute to the annual risk assessment process and assist in formulating the annual audit plan for designated areas.
  • Support management-directed special projects and oversee audit engagements when required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business process owners and collaborate with audit colleagues to identify emerging control challenges.

Required Skills

  • Profound understanding of regulatory processes specific to mortgage servicing.
  • Expertise in compliance risk management, quality assurance/control, or risk management practices.
  • Proven project management capabilities, with an ability to coordinate tasks, track progress, and report on outcomes.
  • Strong leadership qualities with a capacity to drive process enhancements and facilitate change.
  • Analytical and proactive thinker with exceptional communication skills, capable of presenting complex issues in an engaging manner.
  • Proficient in multitasking and prioritizing tasks effectively in a dynamic work environment.
  • Keen attention to detail with the capability to make independent decisions based on expertise.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, MS Project, PowerPoint, Visio).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is required; advanced degrees or certifications such as CPA, CIA, CISA, CRCM, CAMS, MBA are highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in internal audits, emphasizing a robust understanding of regulatory frameworks within mortgage servicing.
