Job Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Internal Audit Control Manager with a strong dedication to compliance and internal auditing in the banking and mortgage service sectors. This role is critical in ensuring comprehensive audit coverage of federal, state, and GSE requirements relevant to our organization. You will be responsible for managing a compliance matrix, providing essential insights to audit teams regarding consumer compliance regulations, and enhancing our risk management strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and regularly update regulatory compliance matrices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and GSE requirements through quarterly revisions.
  • Provide expert compliance knowledge during internal audits and various projects, enhancing validation activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with audit teams to identify necessary compliance coverage for audits.
  • Develop and refine test steps for regulatory requirements while reviewing regulatory audit findings.
  • Participate in compliance change management meetings to stay informed on departmental developments.
  • Deliver comprehensive compliance training to department personnel, fostering a culture of accountability and understanding.
  • Provide insightful recommendations aimed at improving audit methodologies and programs.
  • Engage actively in the annual risk assessment process and assist in executing the annual audit plan.
  • Support special projects as assigned and oversee audit engagements, ensuring adherence to corporate policies and industry standards.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with business process owners and management to encourage open dialogue on emerging control issues.
  • Conduct ongoing analyses of risk trends to guarantee adequate audit coverage.
  • Stay updated with evolving regulatory trends and market dynamics that may influence the business.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of automation tools to enhance the efficiency of the audit process and improve analytics and reporting capabilities.
  • Make informed and independent decisions that balance compliance and operational risks to uphold our organization's reputation.

Required Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of compliance risk management concepts, frameworks, and governance practices.
  • Strong project management and organizational capabilities, with a focus on evaluating and facilitating process enhancements.
  • Self-driven and detail-oriented, with exceptional analytical abilities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to present complex issues in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • Proven experience in establishing strong relationships and working effectively within teams, while also being capable of independent work.
  • Excellent time management abilities and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is essential; advanced degrees or certifications (CPA, CIA, CISA, CRCM, CAMS, MBA) are highly advantageous. Certification as a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) is recommended.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in internal auditing or compliance, with a thorough understanding of regulatory processes in the mortgage servicing domain.
