Career Coach for In-School Youth - Remote | Work From Home

Job Overview

As a Career Coach, you will be instrumental in guiding middle and high school students in their exploration of career interests. You will coordinate career exploration initiatives, collaborate with various partners, and assist students in articulating their future career trajectories. Through the provision of career counseling and the organization of impactful programs such as job shadowing, internships, and career fairs, you will facilitate the alignment of students’ aspirations with viable post-graduation opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer career interest assessments to assist students in identifying suitable career paths.
  • Provide individualized and group career counseling, aiding students in the development of personalized career plans.
  • Conduct both in-person and virtual sessions for students, families, and staff, encompassing job readiness workshops and career exploration activities.
  • Collaborate with school staff to coordinate career exploration events, including guest speaker sessions and field trips.
  • Partner with educators and school administrators to embed career counseling within the classroom setting.
  • Establish partnerships with community organizations and businesses to offer enriching career experiences for students.
  • Organize and execute job readiness initiatives, including mock interviews and career fairs.
  • Assist students in securing internships, apprenticeships, and relevant work experiences.
  • Contribute to the creation of career resources, ensuring accessibility to self-service career tools for students.
  • Attend team meetings, conferences, and events related to youth career development.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as needed to support program objectives.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in working with youth within education, workforce development, case management, or a related field is required.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a distinct advantage.
  • Prior experience within a K-12 school system is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of career counseling methodologies and techniques, particularly in serving diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Experience in conducting workshops and delivering presentations is favorable.
  • A commitment to providing exceptional service to students and the community is essential.

Work Environment

The role is primarily remote but will require your presence at assigned schools Monday through Friday, unless schools are closed. If the program remains active during school closures, you will report to the career center.
