WellSky is seeking a Software Engineer III - DevOps to join our team. In this role one will create, maintain, and troubleshoot the IBM i Development, QA, Staging, and Production environments. This role will be responsible for quarterly security patches, product releases through the environments, and operational performance.
A day in the life!
You will be responsible for the following:
- Deploy new versions of the product to production using automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines)
- Apply quarterly security patches to all IBM i servers
- Monitor operational performance of the IBM i Products
- Monitor capacity/infrastructure to forecast needs of the business
- Troubleshoot and maintain Development, QA, Staging, and Production system configurations
- Develop and maintain design and troubleshooting documentation
- Troubleshoot performance production issues and coordinate with the development team to streamline code deployment
- Dynamic schedule – must be able to work nights/weekends
- Responsibilities also include close collaboration with software developers on the product teams, operations staff, and other IT staff members to manage code releases

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Minimum 2-4 years related work experience
- Experience with the following technologies:
- IBM i Operating System
- IBM i, iSeries, AS/400 System Administration experience
- IBM Power Server

Preferred Qualifications:
- You possess a problem-solving attitude
- Experience as a DevOps Engineer or equivalent software-engineering role.
- Experience in network, server, and application-status monitoring
- Proven ability to work as part of an Agile software development team and understands the SDLC process.
- Ability to coach others, ensure processes and procedures are up to date and followed
- Continuous Delivery/Integration: Rocket LMi, Azure DevOps
- Application Development/Coding/Scripting Experience: SQL, Powershell
- Hardware Management Console (HMC) configuration and support
- SAN replication methods (IBM FSFC) configuration and support
- Data replication configuration and support (PowerHA, MIMIX, etc.)
- Experience in software development lifecycle automation(DevOps) for IBM i
- SQL & DB performance monitoring & tuning - utilizing tools like iDoctor
- RPG Application development coding – General Understanding
- CL coding (develop and support)
- Familiarity with Jira/Confluence
