Context for role:

  • Esab is $2.5B revenue premier industrial company, listed on NYSE.

  • Within Esab, Gas Control Equipment is the key growth lever: faster growth on the back of secular trends (gas usage in high end industrial and medical applications), higher margins, strong M&A consolidation play within a fragmented environment and facing regulatory challenges.

  • Esab Gas Control has a strong plan to double size by 2027, with backing of the board and is already executing on this (2 M&A over past 12 months with Ohio Medical and Therapy Eq.)

  • Within Gas Control, Industrial business area represents ~$50M of revenues across a range of traditional applications (cutting welding) and more cutting-edge automation applications (machine cutting into high end OEMs), with historical focus on Europe and recent expansions into South America, China, India

  • Industrial business area has a been a strong and stable contributor but needs to seize growth revitalization opportunities via more systematic approaches: product positioning, application expansion, leverage of Esab larger product portfolio, product innovation, cost take out.

Scope of role:

  • Inside the industrial activity the candidate will lead the end-to-end business development of below Product Groups representing ~$40M revenues: pressure regulators, welding/cutting torches and sets, safety devices, Esab/Victor ranges.

  • Supported by many other functions (R&D, application designers, supply chain, sales companies), 1-2 junior PM with direct reporting line.

Tasks for the role:

  • Business development

    • Build plan to increase market share by customer, channel, geography and product portfolio expansion

    • Create robust value proposition leveraging competitive benchmarking

    • Animate channel programs, marketing and rebate programs to leverage wide ESAB network

    • Drive sales trainings, customer webinars, end user meetings

  • Product management

    • Work with factory to do SIOP and projects to improve costs, leadtime, inventory

    • Work with global product managers to align range, costs, supply chain, manufacturing and product portfolio strategy

    • Drive market and application expansion initiatives for industrial gas equipment (withing cutting and welding and beyond in industrial range)

Year 1 goals:

Drive concrete actions to take market sha re and grow $1M with mid market range Drive concrete actions to take market share with ESAB fabtech distributors Identify under penetrated products and   geographies and improve sales Build concrete channel optimization and go to market strategy for wider CWT and industrial range Do thorough gap analysis to grow market s hares in specific product lines, applications and customer segments Direct and deliver NPI

Background:

  • 5+ year in product management with experience in industrial business

  • Experience in transforming organization from product to application and value added focus.

  • Experience on gas equipment business a plus but not mandatory

Skills

  • Hard skills: ability to drive and own specific growth actions, analytical, product management, business acumen, market research, product innovation, pricing, process management

  • Soft skills: strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence without authority with sales units and factory, ability to drive change in international environment.

  • English speaking
