Senior Azure Cloud Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Azure Cloud Engineer with 10 years of experience in the Microsoft Suite of products, including Azure. The ideal candidate will possess Azure certifications and have a strong background in backend recovery, Microsoft Defender, Entra ID, Microsoft Sentinel, Active Directory, and Purview. Additional experience with AWS is advantageous. This role will involve designing, deploying, and managing robust and secure cloud infrastructures, as well as supporting a range of cloud services and technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Azure Cloud Infrastructure:

• Design, deploy, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure to support business applications and services.
• Implement and maintain Azure services including Virtual Machines, Azure Active Directory, Azure Backup, and Recovery Services.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of cloud environments through proper configuration and monitoring.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement and manage Microsoft Defender for Cloud to protect against threats and vulnerabilities.
• Utilize Microsoft Entra ID to manage and secure user identities and access.
• Configure and manage Microsoft Sentinel for advanced threat detection and incident response.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices, including data protection and privacy regulations.

Backup and Recovery:

• Develop and implement robust backup and disaster recovery strategies for Azure environments.
• Perform regular backups, recovery tests, and failover procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.

Active Directory and Identity Management:

• Manage and maintain Azure Active Directory and on-premises Active Directory environments.
• Ensure seamless integration and synchronization between on-premises and cloud directories.
• Support identity and access management solutions, including Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

Data Management:

• Utilize Microsoft Purview for data governance and compliance management.
• Implement data classification, labelling, and protection policies to secure sensitive information.

Automation and Scripting:

• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation tools to streamline cloud operations.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates and Terraform.

Collaboration and Support:

• Work closely with other IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and operation of cloud services.
• Provide 3rd level support for Azure-related issues, troubleshooting and resolving complex problems.

AWS Integration (Advantageous):

• Leverage AWS services to complement and enhance Azure deployments where applicable.
• Ensure interoperability and integration between Azure and AWS environments.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Experience:
• 10+ years of experience with the Microsoft Suite of products, including significant Azure experience.
• Proven experience in backend recovery, security, and identity management.
• Experience with AWS is advantageous.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Azure services, including Virtual Machines, Azure AD, Backup and Recovery, and Sentinel.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Defender, Entra ID, and Purview.
• Expertise in Active Directory, both on-premises and Azure AD.
• Advanced scripting skills with PowerShell and experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
