Job Title: Bookkeeper
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 6:00pm Victoria Time with 1 hour unpaid lunch break


Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that our financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with industry standards. The successful candidate will manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks and support the finance department by preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring seamless financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounts Management:

    • Manage all financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
    • Process invoices, payments, and receipts in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Reconcile bank and credit card statements regularly.
  • Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
    • Assist with the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
    • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and journal entries.
  • Payroll Processing:

    • Assist with payroll management, ensuring employees are paid on time and payroll records are kept up to date.
    • Calculate and file payroll taxes as per compliance standards.
  • Tax Compliance:

    • Assist with BAS, GST, and other tax-related filings and compliance with Australian tax regulations.
    • Liaise with external accountants and auditors as needed.
  • Data Entry & Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate financial records in accounting software.
    • Organize and maintain digital and physical financial documents.
    • Ensure all transactions are properly documented.
  • Cash Flow Management:

    • Monitor cash flow and ensure the business maintains sufficient funds to meet its obligations.
    • Manage petty cash and company expenses, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting Support:

    • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
    • Provide insights and reports that support financial planning and decision-making.
  • Client Interaction (if applicable):

    • Handle client queries related to financial records, invoices, and payments.
    • Provide exceptional customer service and build strong relationships with clients.


Requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Education:

    • Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or similar qualification.
    • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2-3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally in a similar role.
    • Experience with Australian tax laws, BAS, GST, and ATO compliance.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or MYOB.
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
    • Strong understanding of payroll systems and tax regulations.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • A proactive, customer-focused attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement.
