RTX has an opening for a Director, Program Management Office (PMO) (Director, Business Systems and Transformation).

Are you interested in playing a key role in defining the future of Aerospace and Defense?  If so, we are hiring a Director, Program Management Office (PMO) to help drive our oneRTX: Process & Systems Transformation. 

The RTX ERP Transformation Program will harmonize key business processes, associated tools, metrics, and reporting across the company, enabling the migration of capabilities into standardized ERP systems. RTX has chosen SAP’s S4 HANA to enable our future ERP system and has largely concluded the strategic definition and design phase and is now entering the initial blueprinting, build and support phases.

The Director, Program Management Office (PMO) is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operational efficiency of project management practices within the program. This role involves developing and implementing project management frameworks, standards, and best practices to ensure successful project delivery.

The role manages the project management team, coordinates project portfolios, monitors project performance, and ensures alignment with program goals. They also provide guidance and support to project managers, facilitate communication between stakeholders, and report on project progress to program leadership and senior management. The Director, Program Management Office (PMO) plays a crucial role in optimizing resource allocation, mitigating risks, financial management and driving overall project success.

You are the ideal candidate if you have experience leading a PMO within an organization or program that is responsible for driving large scale, complex programs and projects related to business process and system transformation, ideally ERP implementation using SAP’s S4 HANA solution.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Developing and Implementing Standards: Create and enforce project management methodologies, frameworks, and standards to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
  • Developing Enterprise Project Plan: Facilitates the creation of Enterprise Project Plan to deliver the agreed scope within the duration of the program.
  • Managing the PMO Team: Oversee and support project managers and other team members, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Portfolio Management: Coordinate and prioritize projects within the program’s portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and resource availability.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track project progress, performance, and outcomes, providing regular updates and reports to program leadership, senior management and stakeholders.
  • Resource Allocation: Optimize the allocation of resources across projects, balancing workload and addressing resource constraints.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, implementing strategies to manage potential issues and ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Supplier Management: Oversee and manage relationships with RTX’s chosen System Integrator (SI) and other external suppliers, ensuring their performance aligns with contractual and program requirements and standards, and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate communication between project teams, stakeholders, and senior management, ensuring clear and timely information flow.
  • Budget Oversight: Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring financial resources are used effectively and within approved limits.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess and enhance project management processes and practices to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and project success rates.
  • Strategic Alignment: Ensure all projects align with the program’s strategic objectives and contribute to achieving overall business goals.

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Typically, a minimum of 14+ years’ experience in project management, with a significant portion of that leading a Program Management Office and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of related work experience and schooling in lieu of degree; Advanced degree and 12+ years’ related work experience.
  • 12+ years’ experience leading large, complex A&D enterprise projects -- or similarly regulated large organization
  • 12+ years’ experience with agile frameworks/iterative approaches to software development and implementation projects​
  • Current U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:

  • Strong Communication skills

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline or equivalent combination of related work experience and schooling in lieu of degree.

The salary range for this role is 171,000 USD - 343,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
