Job Summary

We are looking for a passionate and skilled FrontEnd Engineer who is excited about creating exceptional technology experiences that serve millions of students and educators. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in AngularJS and Next.js to drive the growth, quality, and reach of our web products while modernizing our tech stack. You will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to enhancing user engagement and satisfaction through innovative solutions.

As a key member of our engineering team, you will focus on improving user activation and habit formation within our platform. You will work closely with designers using Figma to implement co teaching features, develop AI enhanced functionalities, and lead the migration from AngularJS to React with TypeScript (Next.js).

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the migration from AngularJS to React using TypeScript (Next.js) while ensuring adherence to best practices for a clean architecture and maintainable codebase.
• Ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend systems through understanding RESTful services.
• Implement state management solutions such as Redux or Context API for managing application state effectively across complex interfaces.
• Improve user activation metrics through innovative approaches that make our already sticky platform even more engaging for students and educators.
• Work closely with UX/UI designers to implement co teaching features that leverage network effects benefiting our community.
• Develop AI enhanced features aimed at providing additional value to learners by utilizing existing AI capabilities combined with extensive data on student work patterns.
• Creating Fun! Design engaging frontend features—infuse humor where appropriate—to enhance overall experience across both web & mobile platforms.
• Develop UI components compliant with WCAG standards; create inclusive designs ensuring usability for all students including those utilizing screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA & VoiceOver.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and developers to promote effective communication throughout project lifecycles.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience collaborating closely within cross functional teams encompassing product managers/designers/developers promoting effective communication channels throughout project lifecycles.
• A "Build fast, fix fast, ship fast" mindset that drives innovation and efficiency within engineering processes
• Excellent communication skills and leadership abilities; capable of mentoring team members while fostering teamwork dynamics.
• Proficiency in frontend technologies including HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript frameworks (AngularJS & React) demonstrating strong coding skills.
• Experience migrating applications from AngularJS to modern frameworks like React; familiarity working specifically within Next.js environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of TypeScript—a solid understanding around its benefits especially when building scalable applications.
• Hands on experience developing responsive UI components adhering strictly towards accessibility guidelines(WCAG compliance).
• Familiarity implementing state management solutions such as Redux or Context API which aid in managing application state effectively across complex interfaces.
• Understanding how APIs function alongside RESTful services enabling seamless integration between frontend/backend systems developed.(RESTful APIs Integration Methods).

Nice to Have Skills

• Knowledge surrounding testing frameworks/libraries like Jest or Cypress facilitating unit/integration testing processes could provide added value.
• Familiarity with Scala is a plus as you will be expected to learn it over time.
