Your missions

Software Engineer

Fairwinds Technologies is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to develop, modify and maintain customized or standardized applications using software engineering best practices and standards, and participate in the full lifecycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance to ensure overall program success.

 

This position is contingent upon contract award. 

 

Qualifications

  • ACTIVE Secret Security Clearance
  • 10+ years’ software engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 4+ years software development experience.
  • C++ certification.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Python, JavaScript, C#, and C++.
  • Proven work experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer.
  • Proficiency in software engineering tools.
  • Ability to identify and overcome technical challenges. 
  • Ability to brief Senior Leadership and Customers on Technical matters. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level. 
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and perform effectively under pressure. 
  • Aptitude for both analyzing technical concepts and translating them into business terms, and for mapping business requirements into technical features. 
  • Experience documenting software designs and creating test plans.
  • Experience implementing the Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).


Responsibilities 

  • Supports a formal, documented Program/Project Management (PMO) by defining and leading program and project management best practices, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Coordinate with software vendors for updates to Monitor and Control (M&C) and Mission Management platforms for newly installed antenna systems and components as required for system updates.
  • Perform quarterly updates and security updates as deemed necessary to maintain software integrity.
  • Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems.
  • Ability to apply systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the development and operations and support (O&S) of software.
  • Deploy software programs and evaluate user feedback.
  • Analyze system requirements allocated to the software, develop software requirements, develop software architecture, integrate software components, and test software to verify that the software satisfies the specified requirements allocated to the software component of a system or subsystem.
  • Analyze and enhance performance, efficiency, stability, and scalability of the graphical interface software.
  • Leads software process development, implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Effectively communicate at all levels of the organization and with customers using a wide array of communication vehicles, including verbal, written and body language techniques. 
  • Measure, analyze, and report on software performance.
  • Proficient in MS Office products.  
  • Excellent written and organization skills.
  • Adheres to company policies, procedures, and practices. 
  • Close attention to detail and the ability to plan ahead.
  • Travel of up to 50% required.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

 

Additional Experience Desired

  • Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) certification.
  • Software Engineer certification.
  • Knowledge of DoD contracting and practices
  • Knowledge of DoD SATCOM systems

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.

 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:  

Must be eligible to work in the US. Must hold active secret clearance.
