$165,000.00 - $215,000.00
What’s the role?
The Senior Manager, Product and Engineering Program Management directs a team of Program Managers with various skills to deliver cross-functional pivotal initiatives that address critical business needs and actualize Etsy’s long-term company strategy.
This candidate will support our Core Product & Enablement organizations by partnering with leadership to identify high-priority and complex work that will benefit from strong program management support. They are motivated by project, program and portfolio management work. They have a dynamic approach to team management and development and look for ways to match team skill sets with program work. They cultivate a curiosity about agile software development principles and continuous process improvement. They are responsible for setting and leading all aspects of the standards for our Program Management team. Most importantly, they are an adept communicator and collaborator who strives to get teams to achieve their full potential.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director, Strategy & Operations, Product & Engineering. This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. The Strategy & Operations team plays a vital role in keeping Etsy focused and connected! We connect dots and break silos between functions and teams. We are responsible for:
Catalyzing strategy-setting, planning, and resourcing for the Product & Engineering orgs.
Accelerating the delivery of big bets critical to our strategy.
Keeping the right efforts top of mind through effective communication.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Lead, coach, and mentor a team of program managers, encouraging a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and high performance.
Establish clear expectations, provide regular feedback, empower program managers to make strategic decisions and elevate the program management craft.
Partner with Core Product & Enablement leadership and Strategy & Operations to define strategic roadmap goals and identify actionable programs for support.
Collaborate with PgMs and business partners to identify and address potential roadblocks and dependencies across program roadmaps and teams.
Continuously evaluate and improve program management methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness and share knowledge and expertise across the broader program management community within Strategy & Operations.
Work with PgMs to review and analyze program performance, identifying areas for improvement and course correction toward successful program delivery.
Communicate program progress, impact, and insights to senior leadership in Strategy & Operations and Product & Engineering partners.

Qualities That Will Help You Thrive in This Role:
PMO/Ops experience in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment (working with teams like Product Management, Design, Engineering, Research, and/or Analytics). As a people leader you have at least 4+ years of people management, specific to leading through change and ambiguity.
Superb self-management and self-organization. Highly proficient in structuring your own and others’ focus and capacity on the vital few.
Excellent communication skills; experience developing assets that can be adaptable to all audiences and channels, particularly at the executive level.
Operational expertise and ability to streamline processes for smooth execution.
Empower others to define and tackle complex problems, prioritize optimally, and deliver quickly.
Able to influence outcomes and people without relying on reporting lines or organizational hierarchy. In addition to teams you support this includes working across verticals, partnering with finance, legal, and people teams.
