As the Chief Claims Officer at MSI, you will lead the entire claims management function, ensuring the efficient processing and resolution of claims across internal and TPA teams today, while also building a technology-first and data-driven Claims organization to support the MGA into the future.  As a key voice on the MSI leadership team, you will support the analysis of new product opportunities and develop claims capabilities to serve a wide variety of evolving insurance products.  You will bring an in-depth knowledge of claims handling best practices, the ability to effectively leverage technology, strong leadership, effective strategy development, and precise execution to the role, representing MSI in high stakes claims negotiations across carriers, TPA partners and regulatory bodies.  Leading a blended remote team, you will champion inclusion, collaboration and development as the MGA businesses grow and flex over time.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Build an industry best Claims department that is relentlessly focused on claims outcomes and innovating to improve the policyholder claims experience.
  • Partner with MSI leadership team to develop strategic and operational plans aimed at achieving both growth and profitability targets. Works collaboratively with actuarial team to escalate trends and provide feedback on pricing, underwriting and coverage.
  • Champion technology roadmap that promotes automation, improved sophistication of claims handling and access to quality data. Implement analytics capabilities that produce ongoing transparency into loss and reserving trends, staff adequacy and opportunities to improve standard operating procedures
  • Continuously hone effective training and quality mechanisms for the Claims team. Create a clear career path for Claims colleagues that focuses on growth, professional development, and promotions from within
  • Ensure adherence to claims handling best practices and service levels, that claims are paid correctly / timely, and compliant with policy contracts / state mandated claims handling requirements.  Refine processes in place to manage the quality of the work and service levels for all claim vendors/TPAs.
  • Ensure MSI has effective disaster recovery, business continuity, and catastrophic claims handling plans in place.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field required.
  • 15+ years of experience in various personal, commercial, and specialty lines claims organizations.
  • 5+ years in a claims related senior leadership role with direct responsibility for the overall success of product performance of the claims team.
  • Highly developed EQ and leadership capabilities. Ability to develop effective strategies to support the overall claims effort and the ability to effectively communicate those strategies to all levels of the organization / external business partners.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and ability to discern with solid decision-making capabilities. Passion for technology, AI and automation
