Job Description:

S&P Dow Jones Indices is seeking an Senior, Database Engineering to be a key player in the Infrastructure Engineering team to secure AWS Cloud database environment used for running index applications in accordance with industry best practices and internal policies. This role requires a seasoned cloud database engineer who works effectively, both independently as well as collaboratively, in a team environment.

The Team: Join our dynamic team of AWS database experts as a highly-skilled Cloud Database Engineer. As part of this role, you will be vital in expanding and optimizing our AWS cloud databases and pipeline architecture. Your primary responsibilities will involve engineering and supporting our AWS cloud databases to ensure database security and consistent delivery of our services.

The Impact: We are looking for a technically strong Database Engineer with a hands-on approach who can bring strong technical skills, communication, and experience to a global team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provision and administer RDS, Aurora, and other databases in AWS Cloud.
  • Hands on experience in AWS Cloud solutions using AWS Aurora & RDS.
  • Automate routine Cloud DBA maintenance, patching tasks using scripting technologies.
  • Develop scripts to automate Database infrastructure provisioning.
  • Implement cloud database engineering best practices and controls.
  • Evaluate new cloud database AWS services and solutions.
  • Enforce cloud database security policies and audit logging mechanisms.

What we are looking for:

  • Proficient in cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS.
  • Skilled in managing AWS Global Aurora Postgres and Global Aurora MySQL.
  • Familiar with tools for monitoring and administering cloud databases.
  • Experienced in developing engineering solutions for both relational (RDBMS) and non-relational databases in the cloud.
  • Expertise in automating cloud database provisioning, upgrades, security patches, and monitoring.
  • Capable of defining backup, recovery, retention, and disaster recovery procedures for cloud databases.
