Job Summary:

This role will establish a partnership with telemedicine and telehealth initiatives occurring within the Digital Transformation Office and Virtua Medical Group.

The position serves as the primary source of contact to coordinate telemedicine and telehealth activities at Virtua Health, and includes responsibilities to support the day-to-day operations of the telemedicine and telehealth activities.  Programs may include remote patient monitoring, video visits for virtual programs/service lines, and technical support for patients utilizing technology platforms during remote care delivery.  This role will also assist with coordinating patient care technology across cross-functional departments, supporting telemedicine/telehealth services and telemedicine/telehealth best practices.

Position Responsibilities:

Operational Tasks

  • Triage incoming telephone calls and appropriately manage each call by obtaining adequate information to make a proper telemedicine/telehealth appointment/referral and schedule teleconsultation when appropriate
  • Schedule remote appointments, set-up and test equipment for telemedicine/telehealth engagement, reconcile telemedicine/telehealth applications to maintain accuracy across electronic medical record
  • Prioritize workload and meet deadlines, develop and carry-out assignments in an efficient and timely manner, provide accurate and succinct documentation of activities
  • Responsible for thorough and accurate documentation to include patient training and patient troubleshooting for the proper use of telemedicine/telehealth equipment
  • Operate a computer with proficiency in utilizing clinical applications, telemedicine/telehealth applications and office programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Skype, etc
  • Be flexible and amicable to efficiently manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.

Communication Tasks

  • Support telemedicine/telehealth activities with internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively with patients and clinical staff members including nurses, doctors, providers, social workers, etc.
  • Exercise tact, courtesy and diplomacy when dealing with individuals at any level. Engage, support and educate stakeholders within telemedicine/telehealth programs using appropriate tactics.
  • Must be confident, composed, responsive, and approachable when interacting with patients, families, and clinicians via telemedicine/telehealth devices including two-way camera technology
  • Maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, use independent and mature judgment, work independently without supervision with a commitment to excellence.

Program Assistance

  • Maintain basic IT troubleshooting skills for computer applications and telemedicine/telehealth peripherals.
  • Assists with review of operational trends relating to the quality, safety, utilization, and satisfaction of telemedicine/telehealth services to evaluate the effectiveness and potential areas of improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

Position Qualifications Required:

Previous experience in a medical environment required

Experience with patient teaching a plus
 

Required Education:

High School Diploma Required.
Associates Preferred.

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program with BLS and MA certification/registration preferred.
