Topcon Associate Product Managers (APM) are the product and market experts for their assigned product portfolios.  They are responsible to monitor and manage business performance, market trends and drivers of assigned products. In addition, Associate Product Managers are responsible for portfolio-related marketing materials, competitive analysis, and representing the voice of the customer.  Go-to-market preparations and presentations are also within the scope of this role, as well as working with the training department to shape messaging and focus for their product courses.

This candidate will focus on delivery systems, closely monitoring and evaluating the product portfolio (delivery systems include ophthalmic chairs, stands, instrument tables, stools, etc.). This person will work closely to keep a cross functional team on target, helping to adjust timelines and deliverables as needed. Key to the success of the APM is building successful relationships with the licensed manufacturer, the sales force, internal cross functional teams and with key customers.


Marketing Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement annual marketing plans to drive product line success
  • Perform ongoing market, pricing, and competitive analyses
  • Develop and execute the product roadmap strategy including identification of new products, product enhancements, and end-of-life actions.
  • Create and execute commercialization plans for assigned product portfolio
  • Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and business models to be able to infuse voice of the customer into company plans
  • Lead product development with the licensed manufacturer to ensure features meet commercialization requirements
  • Define customer needs and feature requirements for future products and assist in the development of long-range product plans.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by proactively soliciting feedback from sales and customers
  • Create strong positioning statements and selling messages
  • Produce effective sales aids and clinical marketing collateral to support selling efforts
  • Support Global Training efforts with product content and deliver training as needed
  • Develop project briefs (including messaging) for key projects related to assigned product portfolio
  • Support product line launch, demonstrations and sales efforts at key trade shows
  • Maintain market knowledge by attending trade shows, visiting key customers, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and completing relevant professional courses
  • This job requires 25% overnight travel, often including weekends

Preferred qualities and experiences

  • Analytical skills and an ability to manage risk and solve basic business problems
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams
  • Strong attention to detail, technical experienced preferred
  • Experience with oversight of large, complex project
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and update priorities as needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well with Executives, Sales Personnel, external manufacturers and customers
  • BA/BS required
  • 3+ years of medical industry or eyecare clinic experience

Base Pay:

Expected Base Pay Range: $80,000 to $110,000 Annualized

The base pay range included is a projected hiring range for a position, level and potential work location(s) listed.  Topcon provides the compensation range that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule.
