Overview:
We are seeking a Controller/Accounting Manager to manage a small team of Senior
Accountants and Bookkeepers while acting as the primary point of contact for 3-5 clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Management:
● Serve as the main point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring their accounting needs
are met consistently and effectively.
● Present financial reports and insights during client meetings, offering actionable
recommendations that align with their business objectives.
● Proactively identify areas for improvement in clients’ organization and financial
operations.
● Troubleshoot and resolve database synchronization issues in collaboration with vendors,
operations, and internal teams.
Accounting Team Management:
● Lead and mentor a team of Senior Accountants and Bookkeepers, prioritizing tasks and
ensuring timely and accurate completion of month-end close, payroll, invoicing, bill
payments, and ad hoc projects.
● Review the team’s work for accuracy and compliance, offering feedback and guidance
for continuous improvement.
● Monitor client deliverables, identifying and addressing any challenges or risks that could
impact deadlines.
● Ensure timely and accurate month-end closes by managing and reviewing the work of
the accounting team and ensuring clear communication.
● Document and communicate changes in client procedures, ensuring proper execution
and adherence to updated practices.
● Manage team performance, providing regular assessments and supporting their
professional growth and development.
● Manage time budgets to maintain profitability on client engagements, providing timely
analysis and recommendations where needed.
Financial Management:
● Monitor client financial performance, identifying key trends and risks that may impact
their operations or goals.
● Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting, reviewing reconciliations
and financial statements with attention to detail.
● Assist with budgeting, cash forecasting, and financial modeling as required, offering
proactive solutions to enhance financial stability and growth.
● Interpret financial data for clients, providing insights that support strategic
decision-making.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s Degree in accounting with 7+ years of recent accounting experience; CPA,
CFA or Masters degree is a bonus.
● Proven experience in a management (accounting manager or controllership), with a
strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles.
● Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple client
relationships and internal teams.
● Experience and confidence working with Netsuite.
● Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
● Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
● Proactive, innovative and strategic thinker.
● Effective communication skills, capable of working closely with clients and team
members to meet shared goals.
● Experience in business planning, growth strategies, risk management, or financial
forecasting is considered a bonus
