Job Summary: The Product Catalog Analyst is responsible for analyzing market trends, consumer behavior, and product performance to inform product strategy and decisions. This role will also involve managing the product catalog, ensuring accurate and up-to-date product information, optimizing catalog structure, and improving overall user experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, a deep understanding of product data, and experience with catalog management systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Analysis:

  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscapes.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Gather, analyze, and interpret product performance data to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement.
  • KPI Monitoring: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track product success and inform strategic decisions.
  • Reporting: Generate detailed reports and dashboards to communicate product performance to stakeholders.

Catalog Management:

  • Catalog Optimization: Manage and optimize the product catalog, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with market demands.
  • Content Management: Oversee the creation, maintenance, and updating of product listings, descriptions, and attributes.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce standards for catalog quality, ensuring all product information is up-to-date and meets company standards.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain) to ensure catalog alignment with business goals.
  • Implement and manage catalog updates, including new product launches, pricing changes, and product discontinuations.

Product Research:

  • Market & Competitive Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify new product opportunities and assess competitive positioning.
  • Consumer Insights: Analyze customer feedback and behavior to inform product enhancements and prioritize development efforts.
  • Trend Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and market shifts to identify opportunities for innovation.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, marketing, and sales teams to align product strategies with business goals. Partner with IT to implement catalog improvements and troubleshoot any technical issues.
  • Stakeholder Reporting: Present insights, recommendations, and findings to senior leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits of the product catalog to identify and correct any discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to product data and catalog management.
  • Implement best practices for catalog management and continuously seek opportunities for improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Marketing, Data Science, or a related field.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience in product analysis, catalog management, and product research with the E-commerce industry.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python/R), catalog management systems, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Knowledge of SEO best practices as related to product catalogs. Experience managing product catalogs and content on the Magento platform.

Content Creation & Photo Editing: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) or similar tools is a plus.

AI Tools: Knowledge of AI-powered research tools for gathering and synthesizing information is an advantage.

Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex data sets and extract actionable insights. Familiarity with product information management (PIM) systems

Soft Skills: Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical thinking, and project management abilities. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects effectively.
