ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
You will be part of the dynamic, talented Field engineering organization leadership working closely with customers in Telecom, Medical, Robotics, Industrial to understand their expected business outcome and address them through Wind River Cloud portfolio. The existing design wins include 5G vRAN, Cloud Robotics, Cloud connected Automotive vehicles and managing VM workloads for high compute medical applications.
You must have deep experience in Cloud native architectures, deploying both Container and VM workloads in on-prem or hybrid cloud environment. You should be capable of understanding customers’ problems and be able to effectively communicate solutions using our product offerings and services. You should also know and have experience with software project development and deployment cycles.
Some travel globally might be required.

Your opportunity is to join as a customer facing subject matter expert of an incredibly talented and motivated, customer-facing field engineering team. You will be responsible for understanding our customers' business and technical needs and collaborating with them in the capacity of a technical evangelist and trusted advisor in crafting the next generation of Intelligent systems using WR technology and Solutions.
Responsibilities
- As an experienced Cloud Solutions Architect in a customer facing role, you will work with customers to understand their requirements around the Container/VM workload deployment and Orchestration and architect the solution leveraging both the WR Cloud Platform and Wind River Linux portfolio.
- Serve as the primary technical architect and advisor in implementing the WRCP for use cases beyond the Telco applications.
- Work with the Account team and FAEs of the account to qualify the Cloud opportunities and architect the solutions leveraging WR products.
- Deliver Proof of Concepts, Demos, and Presentations that resonate with customers’ business needs by partnering with the broader FEO organization and leveraging their required skills.
ABOUT YOU
Core Competencies & Demonstrated Success
- Experience in customer facing technical pre-sales/Solution Architecting roles with the ability to define/design and deliver the POCs for the customers.
- Been in the role of Field CTO or Chief Architect and demonstrated success in helping customers achieve their business outcome.
- Expertise in open-source projects and technologies such as StarlingX, Kubernetes, and cloud-native solutions and known contribution to these projects is a plus.
- Strong background in customer engagement and solution delivery within the telecommunications sector.
- Hands-on Knowledge of RH OpenShift and Suse’s Rancher and relevant certification is a plus.
- Experience with DevSecOps development methodologies including an understanding of tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins, Docker etc.; certifications with such are a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and stakeholders.
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams including Sales, Product and engineering.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in software development or solutions architecture, with experience in working with customers directly.
- Strong knowledge of wireless/cellular telecom, and 5G edge deployments[PJ1].
- Experience in network system-level solution design.
- Expertise in virtualization, containers, Kubernetes, orchestration, OpenStack, and cloud-native technologies.
- Exposure to SDN concepts, Network Function Virtualization (NFV), and ETSI-MANO.
- Linux background covering deployment, image build, application and kernel development.
- Experience in Container/VM workload orchestration.
- Experience in VM deployment using Openstack, KubeVirt.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including C++/C and scripting languages like Python.
- Must be legally able to work in the U.S. without requirement of any type of visa sponsorship or transfer at any time, now or in the future.

Compensation
The OTE (salary plus commission) for this role’s listed grade level is currently $274,500 to $290,000 for residents in the states of Colorado, New York and New Jersey; and $283,000 to $300,000 for residents in the states of California and Washington, and the NYC area. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, location and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, 12 paid holidays.
