Description

As a Care Coordinator Lead, you will have an opportunity to address the most pressing health and wellness needs in Native American communities by providing supervision of the care coordinator staff. Through telehealth counseling services and crisis support, you will serve Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) school staff, students, and families. As part of our ambitious and passionate team supporting the BIE Behavioral Health and Wellness Program (BHWP), you will have a lasting impact on the mental health and wellness of Native American students.

The BIE BHWP provides culturally relevant, evidence-based, and trauma-informed behavioral health and wellness services for school staff, students, and families at all Bureau-funded institutions, including Bureau-operated schools, Tribally Controlled Schools, post-secondary institutions, and Tribal colleges and universities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise care coordinator staff, conduct staff onboarding, evaluations and monitor day-to-day operations within the care coordinator department.
  • Track counseling care assignments.
  • Supervise all care coordination activities and documentation.
  • Monitor call log and documentation for counseling requests, non-counseling requests, discrepancies, missed calls and assign follow-up.
  • Serve as Lead Administrator for EHR including: compliance, access, technical requirements, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Oversee all EHR access and assign roles/passwords.
    • Attend all EHR scheduled meetings.
    • Assign staff and coordinate Electronic Health Record (EHR) mock tests with schools.
    • Manage and assign staff training on use of EHR.
  • Manage Behavioral Health records requests.
  • Provide all necessary de-identified data for reporting purposes for inclusion in weekly updates, monthly performance reports, annual program reports, and any additional requested reports.
  • Manage Telzio schedule, call flows and Telzio staff training.
  • Develop and maintains a positive working relationship with Bureau of Education (BIE) schools’ administrators, point of contact, staff, and students.
  • Adhere to patient confidentiality and comply with program policy, state licensure guidelines, and federal regulations under the privacy rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Must adhere to mandated reporting laws.
  • Attend all required staffing, meetings, and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to provide on-call and after-hours service as needed.
  • Ability to travel on short notice to provide on-site crisis support.
  • Will be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a background clearance.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science or closely related field, or a combination of education and experience; Master’s degree highly preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience, which includes providing mental health and crisis service, coordination, and support.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with the Native American/Alaska Native community highly preferred.
