Penguin Random House Publisher Services is seeking a Production Manager to join our growing and enthusiastic team servicing a client, Kodansha Comics. Kodansha Comics is a manga publisher and is home to bestseller and award-winning series, including Attack on Titan, Akira, and Sailor Moon.  This role will manage approximately 100 initial titles annually and includes, but is not limited to, trade paperbacks, boxed sets, and special projects in a fast-paced environment, from initial estimates to warehouse delivery.

Responsibilities: 

  • Requests estimates from domestic and overseas printers, creates purchase orders, and acts as a liaison between printers and the PRHPS team. 
  • Works closely with Inventory and Managing Editorial to create and maintain schedules. 
  • Updates status reports and digital tracking networks and follows up with printers to ensure schedules are kept. 
  • Submits files to vendors and routes proofs as needed. 
  • Attends and participates in production meetings. 
  • Answers client queries related to accounting, receiving, and tracking books. 
  • Compiles and submits final files to the digital department.  

 

Qualifications/Requirements: 

  • At least 5 years’ book publishing experience in a production, or similar, role 
  • Strong organizational skills, detailed-oriented, and the ability to prioritize a comprehensive workload 
  • Self-starter who can work independently and within a team in a remote environment 
  • An excellent communicator with a high degree of both written and verbal skills 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word) required; knowledge of SAP, FileMaker, and Adobe Acrobat Pro a plus 

 

The salary for this position is $70,000.00. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
