BlackRock SMA Solutions helps clients customize portfolios for unique tax, values-alignment, or investment exposures across direct indexing, fixed income, active equity, and multi-asset. We deliver world-class service to all of our clients, from wirehouses and wealth advisors to family offices to endowments and foundations.

About This Role

We are looking for an equity trader to join our portfolio management team in a rapidly growing division of BlackRock. Working closely with 30+ quantitative portfolio managers, our portfolio trading team provides critical portfolio implementation support by executing high volumes of institutional and retail equity orders for custom-indexed separately managed accounts. We are heavily focused on domestic cash equities, along with a broad range of global instruments including ETFs, ADRs (listed and OTC), Foreign Equities, and limited Fixed Income instruments. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of trading, including trading strategy development, execution, OMS/EMS infrastructure enhancements, manual processes, and transaction cost analysis.

Ideal candidates have strong electronic trading systems and global operations experience, expertise in capital markets, with proven project-management and systems implementation skills. Experience working closely with technology infrastructure support teams to support global trading systems is critical. The role requires strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, attention to detail, clear communication and technical skills, and ability to cope effectively when stressed by multiple critical demands with focus and grace.

As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership, elevated responsibility, silo-busting collaboration, desire to mentor and support colleagues. Key Responsibilities

·        Using OMS/EMS systems to implement high volumes of US and global equity trades via retail and institutional brokerage desks, block desks, algos, SORs, etc.

·        Take leadership on projects to increase scale and streamline existing trading systems, develop & deploy new or enhanced capabilities for rapid growth

·        Collaborate closely with PMs, Operations, Client Onboarding and Sales teams as a critical part of the holistic investment management and trading lifecycle

·        Ensure external and internal regulatory and policy compliance

·        Stay up to date with market trends and regulatory changes

·        Provide best-execution and TCA analysis

·        Deploy new processes to increase scale and improve systems resilience

·        Develop tools and capabilities to reduce manual processes and mitigate risk

Desired Skills

·        Investment/Trading Operations experience is highly valued, e.g. corporate actions, settlements, messaging infrastructure (FIX, SWIFT, etc)

·        Experience with Order/Execution Management Systems (OMS/EMS)

·        Programming/automation/scripting skills are a plus (Python, SQL, etc)

·        Excellent quantitative, analytical, & problem-solving skills

·        Organized and highly detailed

·        Excellent internal/external communication skills

·        Experience in risk-critical roles with proven abilities to triage urgent demands

·        Capital markets and data terminal experience (Bloomberg, FactSet, etc)

·        Proven leadership, project management, and implementation skills

·        A supportive team-building and collaborative ethos

·        Familiarity with statistics and mean-variance portfolio optimization concepts are a plus

 

Qualifications

·        2-8 years of relevant global algorithmic equity trading or electronic trading systems experience preferred

·        3+ years experience in capital markets, trading & operations, PM, or similar roles

·        BA/BS Required


 

For California only the salary range for this position is $137,500 - $194,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
