Forge alternate worlds that deepen players' lives! We're a game development studio based in Los Angeles, dedicated to the idea that online games can deliver deeper, more meaningful experiences. 

As a Senior Level Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the landscapes and experiences within Palia. You’ll work closely with our design, art, and engineering teams to create engaging, interactive, and aesthetically pleasing environments that enhance the game’s cozy and collaborative atmosphere. Your creativity and expertise will help us build captivating worlds that foster player engagement and community.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as a professional level designer, with a strong portfolio that demonstrates your expertise, preferably on open world games.
  • Skills: Proficient with at least one industry standard level design tool. Able to demonstrate your ideas in both a 2D and 3D format depending on what is optimal for the given stage of development. Use these skills to design layouts, interactions, and environments that align with the game’s cozy and multiplayer vision.
  • Player Focused: You are obsessed with crafting experiences that resonate with players. Analyze player feedback and data to refine levels and improve gameplay. Document key learnings to ensure each new release sets a new benchmark for the game.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with game designers, artists, and engineers to integrate level design with game mechanics and narrative elements. Provide constructive feedback and ensure alignment with overall game goals.
  • Passion: A deep appreciation for cozy, multiplayer gaming experiences and a commitment to creating environments that foster positive player interactions.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Online Communities: Previous work on games or platforms that emphasize online community building and social interactions.
  • Passion for Simulation Games: A genuine interest in and experience playing games in the simulation genre and opinionated about their unique design considerations.
  • Knowledge of Palia’s Ecosystem: Familiarity with Palia’s existing mechanics, world-building, and core features would be a plus.

Salary Information

The Los Angeles base salary range for this full-time position is $115,700 - $145,700 annually for a Senior Level Designer. Base salary will be determined by role, level, and location. The range listed for each job is the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries, for the positions across S6-approved states. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors. Please discuss your specific salary expectations for your preferred location during our interview process.

Compensation details reflect only the base salary, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits such as 401k matching.

  • Aligned to core Pacific Coast hours (10:00am - 4:00pm PT)
