Job description

Position Summary

Teach For All is looking for a dynamic professional to lead the development of its thriving and growing Europe region. As Head of Region, you will seek to maximize the impact of Teach For All in Europe, championing our mission and vision and building a thriving, interconnected community of network partners and allies rooted in our values.

Beyond building and deepening relationships within our network, the Head of Region will represent Teach For All externally, elevating the perspective of our network to inform the European education and development discussions, developing partnerships with donors and other stakeholders, and accessing resources to advance our priorities. This includes hosting and participating in strategic discussions emerging across the region and network, and producing thought pieces and public presentations around lessons we are learning across our global network. 

The Head of Region will build and manage a team to support network partners and prospective partners to learn from network insights and resources in order to scale and sustain their impact, and to contribute to the progress of other network partners.    

The Head of Region is one of Teach For All’s most senior leaders, reporting to Teach For All’s Chief Executive Officer, and will also play a crucial role in contributing to the strategic direction and progress of the global network.

This role provides an exceptional opportunity for an individual with superior leadership, strategic, interpersonal, and external skills to increase the impact of our mission and shape the education landscape in the region. The strongest candidates will have a proven ability to set vision, build culture and relationships, influence results through others, and make strategic decisions that drive impact.  This individual must have deep experience living and working in Europe and a strong orientation to diversity, equity and inclusiveness.

  • Regional partners are highly engaged with each other and the network and are dedicated to our mission and values, and to contributing to progress towards our vision and intended outcomes, as measured by the annual network survey.
  • There is growth in aggregate progress across the region, as demonstrated by relevant measures for the intended outcomes:
    • Our network is growing in the region.
    • Collective leadership is growing within the communities and countries of network partners. 
  • Students in our classrooms are developing holistically as leaders who can shape a better future.
  • Our network staff members, teachers, and alumni are a deeply interconnected, learning regional and global community. 
  • Insights from our network inform the regional understanding of what will drive progress for marginalized children.
  • Strengthened relationships with regional stakeholders in the public and private sector generate new opportunities for funding and policy influence.
  • New partners launch strong, sustainable, and aligned local organizations that are deeply rooted in Teach For All’s unifying theory of change.
  • Regional team is diverse, highly engaged, high-performing, constantly learning, and invested in the shared vision for regional impact, as measured in Teach For All’s annual staff survey.

Responsibilities

Regional Leadership & Strategy (40%)

  • In collaboration with the regional team, partner CEOs, Europe and U.K. Boards, and other key stakeholders, establish, evolve, and drive execution of the regional strategy for maximizing impact in the Europe region
  • Build and grow strong relationships with partner CEOs and key stakeholders, including the Europe and U.K. Boards 
  • Support the regional team to create priorities for engagement of current partners and prospective partners by diagnosing needs, identifying strategies that best leverage network resources to address their needs and drive progress towards our intended outcomes, and to capture learnings and innovations to contribute to progress across the region and globally
  • Provide support and thought partnership to partner CEOs, their leadership teams and Boards, and prospective organisations, to build capacity and enhance their strategic clarity 

External Engagement & Representation (35%)

  • Establish, evolve, and drive execution of the external affairs strategy and priorities to create a strong regional ecosystem in collaboration with relevant regional stakeholders and global teams and partner staff 
  • Assess and act on regional opportunities to generate funding, public sector and multilateral influence, programmatic partnerships, and other champions
  • Represent Teach For All externally, engaging a wide set of stakeholders to advance the network’s objectives in the region and contributing to the external education and development discussions

Team Building & Management (15%)

  • Build a high performing and diverse team ensuring they have the coaching and leadership development to live into their highest contribution and a strong culture
  • Ensure team operations provide effective systems and structures to communicate, collaborate, and access the tools and financial resources needed for daily work 

Contribute to Teach For All globally (10%)

  • Work with the CEO, other regional heads, and global team leads to inform the culture, priorities and resource allocation of the global organization
  • Represent the global organization publicly as needed

As the ideal candidate, you will bring:

  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience required
  • Experience working and/or living in the region required
  • Experience having managed a unit/team required
  • Willingness and ability to reside and work (authorization) in region long-term required 
  • Experience working across borders preferred

Compensation

Salary for this position is competitive and dependent on country of hire, prior work experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Work Authorization

Please note, this position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. All candidates must possess local permanent work authorization/permit in order to be considered. 

Travel and Hours

Travel expected, approximately 50%, mostly within the Europe region, but also some travel out-of-region to attend conferences etc. Given that we work across all time zones, some non-traditional hours for very early or late night calls are an expectation of this role.
