Job description

Job Title: Budget Analyst - Remote

Overview

We are actively seeking a meticulous and driven Budget Analyst to enhance our team. In this pivotal role, you will provide essential support to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) by engaging in critical budget functions, including the formulation, justification, and execution of budgets across diverse organizations, programs, and projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct comprehensive programming and financial planning documentation for integration into the Program Objectives Memorandum (POM) and Five Year Defense Program (FYDP) submissions.
  • Evaluate trends and advancements in DISA's planning, programming, budgeting, and execution practices, focusing on appropriations, funding priorities, and workload management for optimal program operations.
  • Collaborate with the DISA Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO/J8) to perform budget-related tasks and conduct sophisticated financial analyses within both general fund and defense working capital fund frameworks.
  • Generate detailed budget execution status reports, narratives, audit documents, and briefings to ensure precision and timely dissemination.
  • Review assignments, collect and consolidate pertinent information, interpret data, conduct analyses, summarize findings, and present organized insights to DISA leadership.
  • Assist in the preparation of budget exhibits and justifications, along with developing detailed programming and financial planning documentation for POM, Budget Estimate Submission (BES), and the President's Budget submissions.
  • Validate, process, and analyze funding packages to support the missions of DISA and OCFO as required.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical capabilities to monitor, track, and analyze budget execution relative to obligations and disbursements, ensuring accurate financial reporting to leadership.
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills for effective engagement with all levels within DISA and government leadership.
  • Proficient written communication skills for the creation of professional reports, narratives, and other documents that convey complex information clearly.
  • Ability to create, maintain, and contribute to various reports, briefings, and spreadsheets to aid financial reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to function independently within a collaborative small-team environment.

Qualifications

  • A 4-year degree in a finance-related field.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant budget experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • An active Interim Secret Clearance is a minimum requirement.
