JOB MISSION:  

Reporting to the Marketplace Manager, the Marketplace Project Lead will drive the growth of New Balance’s online presence by leading strategic projects aimed at growing our brand into new marketplaces and enhancing our existing marketplace operations. You will be instrumental in ensuring that New Balance continues to strengthen its position in the EMEA region, meeting the evolving demands of our customers and unlocking new revenue streams. 

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

 

  • Marketplace Roadmap Ownership: Develop, lead, and be responsible for the marketplace expansion and optimization roadmap, ensuring alignment with New Balance's strategic objectives. Prioritize initiatives based on business impact and resource availability and communicate the roadmap to key partners. 

  • Project Management: Supervise the end-to-end management of marketplace projects, from initial concept and scoping, through to execution and post-launch analysis, ensuring timely delivery within budget 

  • Marketplace Expansion: Lead the execution of projects aimed at entering new online marketplaces, or expanding into new countries in existing marketplaces, across the EMEA region.  

  • Operational Optimization Projects: Working closely with our operations team, you will support implementing strategic operational projects to enable process improvement, automation and scalability of the department. 

  • Other Projects: Working closely with our operations and our trading team, you will support implementing ad hoc projects to enable the department's growth. This can be related to reporting optimizations, marketing projects, etc. 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with EMEA regional teams, including Marketplaces team members, Operations, IT, Finance, Customer Service, etc. to align expansion and growth initiatives with overall business goals. You will also work closely with marketplace partners and third-party vendors.  

  • Risk & Resource Management: Identify potential risks associated with marketplace expansion and marketplace optimizations and develop mitigation strategies. Efficiently allocate resources to ensure project milestones are met. 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Project Management, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is advantageous. 

  • Several years of project management experience, with a focus on e-commerce, marketplace management, or digital expansion within the fashion or retail industry. 

  • Proven experience in leading complex projects that involve market expansion or new platform integration. 

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify growth opportunities and implement them effectively 

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of managing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. 

  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Asana, Jira, Trello) 

  • Ability to work independently and drive projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

  • In-depth understanding of the EMEA market landscape and familiarity with regional e-commerce platforms. 

  • Comfortable communication with senior leaders with strong influencing skills.  

  • Able and willing to travel on occasion.  

  • Fluent in English, other European languages is an advantage.
