Description

You will cultivate strong relationships with Financial Advisors and internal partners while developing your skills to successfully underwrite Life, Disability, and Long-term Care insurance policies. You will thrive in an inclusive, fast-paced environment, ensuring all quality, service, and production goals are met.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Client & Partner Experience

  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for field teams and customers, handling case appeals, inquiries, and business placement assistance.
  • Provide expert guidance to Financial Advisors regarding case underwriting and risk appraisal.
  • Manage prescreen inquiries effectively.

Underwriting

  • Analyze and appraise a wide range of insurance applications, making approval, classification, or decline decisions independently with occasional guidance.
  • Utilize advanced underwriting knowledge to mentor peers and maintain high underwriting standards.
  • Solve complex problems and manage escalations with proficiency.
  • Stay updated with product types and changes, demonstrating agility and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with medical directors and technical staff, adhering to procedures and regulatory processes.
  • Meet all quality, service, and production goals, while partnering with Underwriting Support for case management.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in product processes, collaborating with functional partners on projects and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the design of training curriculum with Learning & Development and Technical teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or demonstrated success in a prior Underwriting role with satisfactory case management and quality review.
  • Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven record of making independent decisions on complex cases.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential information tactfully and diplomatically.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with various software packages.
  • Ability to work accurately and flexibly in both team and independent environments.
  • High degree of organization, with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, self-motivation, and initiative to lead projects or committees.
  • Adaptability to manage multiple tasks in a changing work environment.

Compensation Range

  • Start: $75,180.00
  • End: $139,620.00
  • The salary range for this position will be determined by various factors, including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, work location, and other employment conditions.
